Hi Guys
I have a 73 RR GTX 440 that appears all original BUT?? it has a performance gear that leaves it buzzing out on the road. I'm thinking of going back to a 3.23. Tack shows 3250 at 60.
Its the 8.75 rear and its coded last 3 "489". The gear shop advises that the rear #489 can't take a...
My Road Runner's BEEP BEEP is out of tune. Back in the day there used to be tuning screws inside the horns. Anybody had one apart? I haven't pulled the cover yet just looking for advice maybe just clean the points?
Thanks Chuck
Hi Guys
By 1973 the GTX was a option package in the Road Runner. Anybody know the base options required to make a Road Runner GTX 440?
For sure:
E86 440 engine
D34 Torqueflite Transmission
Possibles:
D6XW bucket seats vinyl
A88 Interior Décor Package
T93 Tire upgrade
Others...
This is the trim between the bumper and body that I think was tan in color on all cars. Please confirm the color.
Mine is discolored from time and I have tried cleaning and even lightly sanding it without a satisfactory result. I tried cleaning with solvents but haven't tried Clorox or...
During the week I read an interesting line (not here) regarding early 70s muscle cars. Author believes that the engineering of engine components for the late 60s engines with 10 plus compression ratios carried over when the compression was dropped to 9 in the early 70s. He stated that 200k miles...
Here's my real 440 GTX, numbers matching, with 52k miles for sale. Providence from day one. I'm selling because the cars too nice and too valuable to use as a local show and driver. See the Cars on Line ADD...
I need a chrome tag frame for my Road Runner with a Beep! Beep! message. Only one I can find is on a Japanse site "Rakuten" .
Anyone know of a US source?
Any suggestions for alternative messages?
I know I can go Custom but hoping to find it premade.
Thanks Chuck
I have a 73 Road Runner (just acquired) with aged bias tires. They are dry-rotted and on wet pavement its like ice skating. Its a very original survivor car. New Bias will give better ride and New Radials better safety. I'm leaning toward a set of Radial T/A Goodyears. Low speed driving only...
This is a video of a local show that we had last Friday.
Right next to my blue Road Runner is a Blue Dodge R/T also blue. A one owner Hemi!

I just sold my extra car! wow what a chore! I had 5 web ads going and lots of chit-chat. Need more pictures ect. Finally connected and will have more time for this forum.
The most productive site is Cars on Line -by far. 90% of the inquires came from it.
Now I can get back into the new...
My Road Runner came with degraded window trim from the sun. The grained finish is really flaking. Just a slight brush makes a mess. Our local restorer says he restores these by sanding to metal or to healthy coating, then applying a heavy coat of primer and while the primer is still soft...
Very Interesting. A friend just got it and we went for a ride. The door handles are flush with the body and there's no recess to pull the handle bar. When unlocked, the handle extends to you about a inch to give you access.
No sound at idle standstill--just music and A/C. Off we go, he's...
Finally the stars aligned and the new 73 Road Runner and I bonded. I put the hammer down last evening --very disappointed. Rated at 280HP and with a 3.91 rear its peppy but no cigars. I held the RPMs down 4500 or so. My other cars would run circles around it. No wonder the car tests showed 1/4...
I ran across this some time ago and I imagine some of you have seen it. Slo-Mo of a running engine.

Be sure to catch that spark crossing the gap.
New car to me --73 Road Runner 440 with 52k original miles. I drove her test run about 20 minutes and then bought her home 60 Miles mostly on the interstate. No problem.
Put her in for complete fluid change, new high torque starter and rear brake rebuild.
Incident 1 backed out of garage...
i've never had a vinyl top car before and am clueless as to detailing and preservation. I haven't touched it yet. wipe it down with Armoral?? Its not dirty now but when it gets there a gentle wash with a light brush and dishwash fluid?
Thanks for your ideas --Chuck
I have a new 73 RR GTX 440. It came with the windshield sticker and from a family that held it 30 years. It went to a collector for the last 10 and now me.
I checked under the back seat, in the springs of the front seats and in the springs of the front seat backs today without success. Next...
