DC-93, driven by Charlie Glotzbach, July 13th. shake down runs.
The guys are working on the test recorder in the trunk.
Note the drilled-out hinges. A lot of work to lighten them up.
Wing was body colored.
By the next test, July 20th., the wing was painted white while on the car.
DC-93 ran laps...
Was a spare for the #88 Daytona. It has better coils in it for more starter hp.

An actual Road Runner!
Check out the hood!
Turns out that the Satellite hood had less drag, so Petty ran that. See the rubber front bumper? Cool!
Note the full width front spoiler.
A rule change to “as wide as the frame rails” took effect for 1971 so this was the only time this spoiler was...
Pat McKinney built this Allison tribute car in the 90s.
It's not a real Nascar Daytona.
Never driven by Allison!
Notice it sits high. No drooped nose. No flair in front of the rear wheels.
No inside torsion bar adjuster on the left side.
Still has the stock driveshaft tunnel!
Wrong gauge...
What's he looking at ???
Notice the "squared off" back end for better aero.
Valance, 1/4 extensions, bumper all tweaked a little, not to mention the lip spoiler.
This Dominator was a spare for DC-93, the real #88 Daytona.
I had it restored and flowed on the bench by Holley.
It's set up for a bathtub intake.
I'm asking $1,500. or best offer for this gem, shipping included, from 48317 in conus.
You won't find a nicer one.
I'll ship the original Holley box...
They have known it wasn't the real deal since 1997, a year BEFORE the real 88, DC-93, was found in 1998 behind Don Whites shop in Keokuk, Iowa.
There's enough vintage pics to do it right.
The way it looks now is ridiculous, since it started off as a 1968 Charger "2x2" car entered in the...
The Baker fender looks stock. The Petty fenders have been modified. Look at that curve!
From this angle, the Petty fender either droops downward or inward - narrowing the front end. (or a combination of both)
What do you think??
An inch here or there adds up at Daytona.
This is an original. Has the embossed paper, not smooth.
Has been taped on the backside in various places.
The one Steve Juliano had sold for over $9k because of the hype. Any idea of a real price?
A few candid pics from my archive.
Fresh from being built at Chrysler Engineering in Highland Park, Michigan.
Shipped to the Woodward Garage South Chrysler race shop in Huntsville, Alabama.
Pics show it being unloaded, still on the pallet.
Larry Knowlton told me the chrome parts dressed it up...
Each one hand made by Nichels Engineering in the late 60s. 3 required on each side.
No 2 are the same! Drilled so they can be wired together to not loosen up.
