I have some charging problems (that I hope to solve soon with a new voltage regulator) and I just realized they my ammeter gauge always points straight up, 12 o’clock. When I’m revving it doesn’t move at all.
The battery charges about 13 volts+ when at 2500rpm so I guess a fully working ammeter...
Hi.
I have some charging problems. At idle I only get 12,7-ish volts and around 13 at rpm...
I made sure I had good ground at the regulator, but still had the same issues.
Then I watched this vid on youtube:
And this dude says a healthy regulator should have 1.75 ohms.
Mine had 156 ohms!
Can...
Hi.
I'm running a 650DP on my 383 and I recently installed an air/fuel-meter.
The enginge has problems when moving from standing still on first gear (manual trans).
The air/fuel meter showed that the mixture gets really poor at that moment so I guess thats the problem. I have to give a lot of...
Quick question as Im setting the timing for my 383.
I've read both that the total timing (aiming for 36) is WITH the vac. advance and WITHOUT the vac. advance hooked up.
Wich is it? When I have the vacuum advance hooked up I pass the 36* goal and when it's disconnected I don't reach it. This...
Hi.
I could'nt get my engine to start. I'm thinking it's got to do with the dist. advance timing..
Some of you has helped me along the building of my 383, but for those of you who don't know here's some info.
383 with .030 overbore
compression ratio:10,5:1
closed chamber iron heads.
comp cams...
Hi. I thought I would start my rebulit engine today, but I seem to bump into trouble in every little detail.
It's a 383 (stock oil pump, drive gear and dist. wich all was in the engine before the rebulid, new cam)
Now I'm stuck with the distributor/oilpump drive gear. I can't get it to seat...
The engine shop considered my deck as good to go, and my heads are milled. I'm going to use the 0.020 steel shim gasket. Would you use copper spray or not? I've heard arguments both ways..
I've looked around a bit and find it a bit confusing. Some -71 RR's has two and some only has one horns.
Mine has two horns and the inner fender has holes for both of them and the wiring-harness has two horn-connections.
Was this an option, or why does some cars have one and some has two?
Hi again.
Here's a thread for those who wants to give a rookie some input on a choice between two cams.
(some of you knows about my build from earlier, but here's what I've got)
383, stock rods, 1.900 flat top pistons, 915 heads (3-angle cut 2.14/1.81) unported, Edelbrock dp4b intake, holley...
Hi.
Just got a set of heads and I noticed that I don't know what the big letter (casted in the same slot as the number on the bottom side of the head) means. On this set I got the letter L on both heads, and on my old 906 heads I have one R and one M.
The rocker arms on the new heads has...
Hi again folks.
I'm now about to choose cam for my build.
I've been looking at the comp Xtreme energy 268H (268/280) (224/230 @0.050)
http://www.compcams.com/Company/CC/cam-specs/Details.aspx?csid=707&sb=2
But now I'm offered a used High energy 268 single pattern cam (218/218 @0.050)...
I buying a new intake manifold, and I wonder if anyone here has an Edelbrock performer RPM (or other hi-rise) intake with original dual-snorkel air filter under the hood of a 71 Road Runner?
Will it fit?
I just measured the piston-to-deck-clearance and got .080 on my 383 block. Stock rods and SP ( 366AP30) flat top pistons. I'm using 906 heads (measured 88cc) and the Felpro head gasket ( 8519PT-1 ) wich after some googling is said to be .040 compressed.
Block is .030 bore.
All these parameters...
I have the heads, crank, and cam out of the block, so I thougt, instead of put them back to measure, I'd ask here.
I'm scouting for a new camshaft and wanna know how much lift I could have before the valves hit the pistons.
383, stock crank, 906 heads w. stock rocker arms (believe they give a...
...on a Holley 650 double pumper on a slightly-meaner-than-stock mopar 383?
I havent tried mine as is yet, cause I'm rebuilding the entire engine. But the ones sitting when I bought it was Primary: 69 and Secondary: 85
Is this cam a good choice for a 383 with stock pistons, rods, 906 heads w. stock rockers and valves. HP-valve-springs though (double spring)...
I'm arfraid there's too much lift so the valves will hit the pistons.. What is the "lift ratio" with stock rockers in 906 heads?
