Studs stick up far enough to require grinding about .25" off the bottom of each flange. Still playing with if the studs will clear the...
So I just stabbed the cam...was going to pop the chain on and I got that sinking feeling..
Shouldn't there be a plug in this hole?

So a trans I acquired years ago is being pressed into service.
It was allegedly rebuilt..(I agree) and with Hemi parts (mostly disagree).
So I found 4 new waffle cut clutches per drum..ok..not hemi..but not 3 either.
4 pinion planets, 9 springs in the front drum, and a sad little 3.2 lever...
Let me preface this with.."Yes, I know their reputation has been less than stellar, but I can't find anything recent on them."
So it appears the "kinder, more gentile" U.S. Body is advertising again... 68-69 Coronet fenders caught my eye.

So I got the first 10 mile break in done..auburn LS 489 case 3.73 gear with crush sleeve eliminator, all new bearings and gears.
gentle throttle, suburbia traffic. No whine..no noise.
For those with USGear/Richmond gearsets..if it was going to make noise.. will it develop as I rack up miles, or...
I have a pieced together extra 489 3rd member. Unused older set from US gear, carrier with new bearings, and a crush eliminator/bearing kit from Cass.
I have a set up bearing.
So is it:
1)Pinion preload
2) pinion depth
3)backlash
4) check pattern/readjust as needed
Or
1)depth w/o sleeve.but...
