DOT is tearing up the road near my house. Slowly drove over a slightly raised man hole cover and it hit my oil pan. No leaks so far. I didn’t lose oil pressure and everything seems fine.
This is my first time being dumb enough to do this. Should have just driven around it.
Do you typically...
So I drive it once a week for a few hours throughout the summer. Just recently pulled into a gas station, filled up and then went to start with no luck. There was only a single click and then nothing.
Hooked my battery jumper up and it started after a few tries. Second the jumper disconnected...
So my alternator is dead. I believe the 440 is out of a 75 motorhome. Anyways it has what looks like a 2 V groove pulley on it with only one belt attached. Is that the right alternator setup for this? I see they sell ones with 1 groove pulley too.
Is there anything under the vehicle I also need to take out? Any tools designed for it or am I just going to scratch this all up with a pair of pliers? It seems like there a rubber gaskets on the bottom of the car that maybe pop out to expose a bolt. Just having trouble getting them off.
I know this isn’t mopar related but I have a new to me 68 Galaxie. Managed to buy it from the original owner who had the window sticker still. Figured I’d take a look for the build sheet and there it is untouched. It is super fragile. Ripped with me just touching it. Is there anyway to get it...
I noticed that the plugs were not the same on both sides so I decided to change them. I believe my 440 is out of a 1975 motorhome.
On one side were autolite 3926 and on the other side NGK BKR6E11. They are 5/8 and I cannot find either of them listed for 440/383 engines.
I bought plugs off of...
72 RR 440. Brakes are fine for about the first 30 minutes. Stops well too. Drums all the way around. Then they start getting a little hard. Once I park it the brakes seem to be even harder but by the next day they are normal again. Any ideas?
On short drives they don’t seem to get stiff at all...
I went to check my oil level because I noticed a little more oil under the car than usual. Found that the dipstick and dipstick holder (not sure what it’s cslled) are not even connected to the engine block. Just hanging there. No idea when this happened. Drove it yesterday just fine.
I was...
So I can’t tell when the last time my 440 had her fuel filter changed. So I bought a metal and plastic WIX filter. I tried googling and looking on YouTube but I couldn’t find anyone explaining the process on an older car.
I saw some tips about letting the pressure out of the system first by...
I have a 72 RR that is new to me. I can tell that the left side of the car is a little higher than the right side. I was thinking it’s possible how the air shocks are adjusted. I just have no idea how to adjust them. I only see one nipple that maybe I could hook up my compressor to but how would...
So it’s been driving great and I took it on a longer than normal drive today. It started to backfire but only when I wasn’t accelerating. Typically just some small popping with the occasional louder pop. Any idea where I should start? I just have never experienced a car backfire only when...
So there’s a red light under the steering wheel. And a switch with a light in the center console. Can’t figure out what either of them do…
Also any tips on getting the glove box open? The key just spins the lock. I’d imagine that heater you see on the floor can just pop back in but I bet I’m...
So whenever this cat was repainted last. Someone took these emblems off, filled the holes and then never put them back on. Trying to locate the correct reproduction parts to put back on. I can’t seem to find what size of part number for both parts might be and wasn’t sure if any Charger or Arrow...
I’m going to cruise with it and not worry about much else. It won’t be garaged or covered (except in the winter). Will the paint for the most part stay like this or if I keep it out in the sun and elements is it going to start peeling and cracking quickly? I realize the sun will hurt it no...
Just thought I’d pick your brain. This is my first time using a local machine shop. Not many in the area I live in so likely can only get one or two quotes. Was hoping to keep it under $5k but I know prices are all over the place.
So the old bulbs were rusted and not working. I got them out, cleaned the contacts and when the new bulb touches the contact it now lights up just fine. However even with bulb grease I can’t get the bulb to stay in. They just keep popping out. Almost like they aren’t in all the way but I’ve...
Maybe it’s all in my mind by my 1972 has a much more tinny sound than my 1967. The 1967 doesn’t sound like a tin can when I shut the door, trunk or hood. Did they use different steel throughout the mopar years or possibly a different gauge?
So I believe the bulbs for the reverse lights are 1156 and brake lights are 1157 but on rockauto the only socket I see is listed as brake light. Any idea which Dorman part is right for the reverse lights? Unfortunately both my sockets have rusted out due to trapped water.
Maybe a dumb question but I put a new fuel pump on my 67 satellite last September. Drove it a bunch until putting it away for the winter with no issue. Started it for the first time yesterday after about 4 months and was leaking gas pretty bad from the fuel pump. Looked like it was leaking where...
