    727 Stock converter differences, performance,towing,mileage ??

Nice ride. What year is the transmission? As it is the one that came with the car back in 1962, then the converter it came with with will be a 12" (aka as a 11 3/4") narrow ring gear, 19 splines, an no weights. It was rated as a medium stall, and from the information I have, it stalled...

    what stall torque converter

As others have mentioned, a factory high stall (12") might be your best choice. They stalled in the 1900-2200 range depending on application.

    Torque converter for mild stroker

Contact a couple of the better known performance builders that have been mentioned many times on this board. Give them all your specifications and see what they recommend for your application. Just because the 10" Whiz Bang converter I have in my car works perfect for me doesn't mean it will...

    Creative Trans Cooler Mounting

I know this might bring up a lot of controversy, but coolers mounted in the rear, under the car etc. are not in the air flow. Any cooler maker will tell you to mount it behind the grille, in front of the rad, as they are designed to have air pass through them. Rear mounted, or under the car...

    426 wedge vs 440

Forgot to mention something. I know of more than one guy over on the mainland that would pop the hood of your car and tell you right away that it was a clone. Lots of stuff on those cars that were unique to those cars and not used on any others.

    426 wedge vs 440

One thing it does, is save you a lot of money over normal insurance. Yes there are restrictions, but nothing that to me is a big deal. With collector plates, you can't drive the car to work on a regular basis. There are other examples, but I can drive my car anywhere I desire when I want...

    Lo-Stahl to "Higher" Stahl Converter

Nothing wrong with a TQ. There's a guy in Spokane WA. that makes then look like and run like new. Had a customer that had one done for his 71 Duster. Wasn't cheap to get restored but he said it was worth every penny.

    426 wedge vs 440

I've had 2 survivor cars and never had a single issue in getting collector plates. The pictures I took were what ICBC wanted and at no time did they mention anything about repainting or removing anything. My current car has an inspection decal from the state of Georgia in the lower left part...

    426 wedge vs 440

I know of a gear head that has a 426 HP wedge engine (1963) with heads, cross ram manifold, with carbs and linkage, and the factory exhaust manifolds. He told me once that if anyone has to ask how much for the engine, the guy can't afford it.

    Anchor transmission mount is crap

Yes, I know the problem. We didn't purchase mounts in boxes, we bought in bulk. If there is a Transtar transmission parts distributor near you, check with them and see what they've got. There is a company called W.I.T. that sells transmission parts. Might be an idea to check with them also...

    Anchor transmission mount is crap

Anchor mounts are to the best of my knowledge made off shore. If you look at them, the rubber is painted. Look at a quality mount, and the rubber is not painted. When I worked in the industry, we had a hard time convincing customers that a $4.00 mount wasn't the same quality wise as a $10.00...

    727 Overhaul Kit

No, don't waste your time in trying to flush a converter. Crap can get jammed up in the pump vanes of the converter and once there, there they remain. Get a replacement converter and don't forget to get the transmission cooler in the rad cleaned out or by pass it with a large quality cooler...

    help 727 trans or 904

By looking at the thread beanhead has shown above, it won't take long to determine the transmission. Personally, I don't believe that Chrysler ever offered a 904 behind a big block. From 1962 to 1966 the 727 converter was a 12", narrow ring gear, medium stall converter, with 19 splines. From...
