Well, our summer show season is just about over, so just about time to jump in to the body work. As a temporary measure, and to hide the rust out spots on the body, I did a quickie shoot with Eastwood Rat Rod flat black. It looks much better in one color now.
Boy, that looks familiar. I just picked up a 68 that was stored inside for 20+ years too. We are waiting till winter to get it media blasted. This summer we are just enjoying driving her and getting thumbs ups...
17's. They are a pre production wheel done by Wheel Vintiques that a friend of mine special ordered. They are a bit heavier than the current production wheel, so we got them from him for a nice price. The tires are 255/45ZR17's front and 285/40ZR17's rear, both on 10 inch width wheels. The tire...
Well, I had to leave on a trip, but my son took the Charger to the first Mopar meet of the season here and got second place in the "Under Construction" class. Unfortunately, we found out that the radiator was now toast and the tranny was on it's last legs. Luckly, he was able to limp home and...
Getting the brakes done. We installed a new master cylinder for the discs and proportioning valve and 10 lb check valve for the drums. Now for a test drive.
Getting the brakes installed
Here is the front disc brake conversion using parts from an M body (any F/M/J would work). The rear drums are now 11 inchers.
Bye bye 10 inch drums
After cleaning and media blasting the front spindles and caliper brackets and buying new calipers, the front brakes from our donor M body are ready to go in place of the old 10 inch drums. We also have some new 11 inch drums for the back. Also purchased a master cylinder...
I was wondering when somebody was going to comment on the slap stick :toothy5:. He left a bit of the tranny hump of the donor car, so the console doesn't fit quite right. We will have to take the console out (it is just bolted in) and put it in it's correct location so that the console surround...
More progress, first drive out of the shop
I got the dash put back together, and the engine fired up and tuned in enough to take her for a short spin on the farm. We are still working on the brakes, and hopefully will get to them next week. We had a set of 17 inch Magnum 500's from another...
i'm guessing you are referring to the paper on the trunk lid? That is the original sticker for jacking instructions! So that is the original paint under the trunk lid.
Yes, this is an original yellow car. Also, no vinyl top, so the roof is in really nice shape except for one dent from a tree limb. The plan is to make it an R/T clone with 440 and 4 speed. We are installing disc brakes and 11 inch drums next to get her road worthy, but our plan is to take it to...
To clarify, the part that is "hacked up" is the radio plate. I do have the original AM radio, but will be looking for a plastic surround. I found one in the Paddock catalog already.
I've been into Mopars for some time as my Grandfather was a Chrysler/Plymouth dealer in Olympia, WA, and my dad still owns his 1952 Chrysler Saratoga with 331 Hemi power that he got as his High School graduation gift. He drove it off the railroad car brand new and his first stop was the body...
