Looks like it to me too. They have the stock-looking casting on the end as Dwayne mentioned, plus in your pic you can see the shiny aluminum rocker pedestal.
What a bummer.
Yeah I've seen a few of those commercials lately too. I have a daughter that was born around the time he died, so she wasn't familiar with his old ads. One came on the other day and she was like "wow that guy's really loud" so I explained who he was.
Maybe dead guys are cheaper, they still use...
I had a band support strut break in the 727 while backing out of the garage, does that count?:D
It was actually a transmission I pulled out of a stock '68 Polara in the junkyard, wiped it down, put a new pan and fluid in it and stuck it in my car. It ran great for a few thousand miles of abuse...
My gramps on dad's side built a trucking company after his Navy time in WWII. He started with one truck and himself as the driver/mechanic/salesman/etc and by the later 1970's had grown into the largest 'independent' trucking line in CA.
Long story short, my dad grew up wrenching and working...
*******. THIS guy knows how to road trip!!

Wish I could make it. Not too hairy of a drive for me from Clovis/Fresno area.
Have a great time Dennis!
I'm wondering if the previous owner put the wrong length springs on for the application.
The rear shackles should be closer to vertical at rest, in the picture they appear to be shoved all the way aft...that will definitely make some noise as the car tries to settle after takeoff.
Coolness!
My brother picked one up a while back. It's quick, noisy and scares the coyotes out of the orchards!
I went ***-over-bars when I got a little too frisky on it, as usual...
You can leave the springs off and just use a prop rod of some sort when you need to get under the hood, but it gets old fast....
These are the springs I've used- Fiberglass hood springs
