This motor has been sold and is returning to Detroit to live in a 63 Sport Fury, wonderful legacy and Al is surely smiling. Thanks for the great site and to all the knowledgeable folks that helped ID this motor.
OK, the pad stamp is legit according to both Greg Lane and Scott Smith (Harms). This thing left the MOPAR parts division as a 13.5:1 TMPHC for a 1963 race car. This is std bore and look at the water passages.... no rust scale or anything. Closest thing to NOS as you will find. Make an offer...
I will need to pull it off the porch and out of the shipping crate to check the rail but will do. It is definitely a Max Wedge block (actually the whole motor). We are trying to determine if it left the factory as a 13:5 to one short block as the mechanic stamped it as.
It has AAQA 2R up front...
So... this is a great ongoing mystery. It would seem that the short engines do not come with a pad stamp other than maybe the W-T (water test) and that the mechanic may be required to stamp it. Does this make a 1963 Coronet that has a MP Wedge Motor with the wrong fonts on the stamp pad (yet...
Let me start by saying this engine did not come from the factory in a car. It was built by an engine builder and I can go into the stories as they were relayed to me. From what I can tell it started life at the drags in late 1962 and was then built to run closed track in 1964 which in never did...
One from 1962.... what do the numbers mean?
And the curious block stamp

I have to say, based on my limited experience here, that there is NOT a date code in the number. It is an engine Model Number associated with the short engine for the purpose of ordering parts in...

I will post pics, complete engine with 10 2 62 casting date, Heads, intake, exhaust manifolds, h pipe, carbs, race pan. Here is the rub.... its stamped 426TMPHC 11 13 62 on a factory original MOPAR short engine and the fonts are all wrong (don't match the factory production line motors). Only...
I have a what may be a 426 TMPHC made in November 1962 from a factory short block. The stamp font is wrong so I am trying to document the parts. It has OEM 2463987 STD pistons in it ......the dome doesn't look like 13.5 to me but I can't cross this number. They are new so the number is very...
