Great weekend in Carlisle! Drove a 56 year-old Road Runner that’s been off the road for 40 years over 250 miles trouble free! Had an outstanding luncheon Saturday at the FBBO tent. (That was a hell of a spread and very much appreciated!) The Road Runner was invited to a Mopar Collectors Guide...

I made a fire extinguisher (clean agent) mount out of a piece of aluminum L angle and some black felt. Had to weld a small tab to help hook it in place. I like not adding any holes to an original car. I also think it makes quicker access to the fire extinguisher as you can just grab the mount...

    1969 Road Runner preservation

Made a few short road trips with the Road Runner. First one ended with something stuck in the idle circuit of the carburetor. That required me taking the carburetor apart and practically rebuilding it. Second trip little further and the dash brake light came on. Brakes seem fine still...

I color sanded, a 1966 GTO with original paint, GM‘s use lacquer and it cracks. I use an electronic paint thickness tool to help me gauge how much I was sanding off I only used 2000 then 2500 grit paper. But that electronic paint thickness gauge kept me from burning through.

The color matched wax is great for old paint that is chipped and scratched as it helps hide the imperfections. https://www.amazon.com/Car-Gods-54-Diamond-Restorer/dp/B07R2MPTK5 https://www.amazon.com/Spray-Nine-26932-Marine-Cleaner/dp/B00144CZRM

Yes, it seems like a little bit more aggressive cam than stock. I have been trying to get the specs from the family or at least the contact of the engine builder. Thanks

Thank you! It is fun and not nearly as much work as a full restoration but also not as stressful as a full restoration;-) Pat

Top half of the engine was disassembled by the original owner in the mid 80s. But was never protected or reassembled and sat that way for 40 years. The original owner passed away in 2018. Sometime after that his daughter and son-in-law had the engine removed and rebuilt to stock specs. But they...

Two steps forward and one back, after getting the exhaust manifold stud leak fixed. I discovered another one in the heater core. I had tested this a few weeks ago by itself, but after 14 psi, she decided to leak:-( For the short term, I am just installing a couple of rubber stoppers in the two...

    1969 Road Runner preservation

With my original radiator back from the shop and installed, I was able to fill the engine with antifreeze and pressure tested for leaks. Unfortunately, one of my exhaust studs was leaking. It was one of the long ones that requires the special 2 1/2” long bolt. I am sure there are specialized...

Yes, I could never quite figure that out as well. With all due respect, you can get closer to a $40,000 paint job then you could to some guys $10,000 four-door survivor;-) Thanks Pat

While waiting for a few parts so that I could start the engine for the first time in over 40 years. I decided to work on the exterior paint. After getting into detailing and polishing the paint I have determined that there is considerably more than 20% that has had paint work done to it over 40...

Good eyes! The original owner installed that in the early 70s when he had the fender well headers on the car.
