Sorry to hear about this, first time I heard of bad experience with them. Good idea to try to go up the chain. I found the contact for the company president digging around and got a great response from him. Another time that didn't work...
After a terrible experience I had 50+ years ago selling my GTO to a dirtbag who destroyed it, have always wanted to have some assurance my old car would go to a nice home. I’ve had it 30-years, restored it, dropped cash in it, dripped blood on it, yeah anyone who has knows, knows what the story...
Same here, I’ve had AAA for decades and had to use them a half dozen times or more btw my vehicles and my kids, couple of deer hits, never for a changing a tire. One time my daughter hit a huge pot hole destroying the tire and wheel plus whacked out the alignment. The spare got me to the fix-it...
Yeah, I've had to use them a few times. In the case of a trashed tire that can't be repaired, a spare sounds nice to have to keep going with out a car carrier ride..
Had similar hassles when doing a brake conversion adding power. There were so many things I did can’t recall specifically what worked, here they are offhand:
Verify non-faulty booster and check valve doing a vacuum check (and no other leaks elsewhere)
Monitor what your idle and cruising vacuum...
Where I live there are just a few counties requiring an emissions test every other year. Sadly, I’m in one of those. Here once a vehicle reaches its 30th birthday, emission testing is no longer required. On the average, it’s a far stretch to find many people driving 30-year-old vehicles as their...
Speaking of Pontiacs, posted this story before, but it’s a memory I still like to vent on. As a jr in HS the first car I bought after driving dad’s 63 GP (389 tri) and mom’s ’66 T-bird, was a ’67 GTO vert. It had about every option possible and in pristine shape. Had no idea what a keeper that...
In my case, I was able to remove the bulkhead from the topside and also reconnect all the wiring. Ma mopar left enough slack wire to accommodate it. Was pleasantly surprised how nice the wiring and connections still were to the backside of the BH.
Here are a couple photos before and after.
Gone are the days reading stuff on paper, only time I do anymore is when waiting at the place I get my haircut or at the dentist having some magazines. I don’t see them at the clinics, maybe they think they spread germs. At the clinic I go to I can’t get a decent cell signal.
I have hundreds of...
I switched out the 3:23 for a 3:55, one of a few mistakes I made during restoration. I opted to keep the poly and build that up some. My idea was that the 3:55 would offer some added low end giddy-up. What I mostly regret is the higher rpm’s at cruising speed which is where my car spends most...
Neat method, wish I'd have heard of this before, I had some hassles when running bolts through the carpet for the modified console I installed, the carpet would get snagged while threading the bolt, remove and cut more. Messed up the carpeting, but fortunately most of it is hidden. Just did NOT...
I use a 160, although I’d be fine using a 180. All the stat does is open or release water from block sooner or later (160 or 180) to flow through the radiator. In cold climates, a 195 is nice as the block water will heat up more before being run through the cooling system to give more heat and...
At operating temp, whether a 160 or 180, (if not faulty) the stat won’t make any difference, they open and stay that way until coolant drops below the designed stat temp.
The 235-275’s are the tire width. The 60 is the height so you should find the same OD all the way around. Get the narrower tire (235) as you mentioned and it will be all good regardless of which wheel it goes on to replace the flat one. Want the rear axles rotating identically or can cause...
If the car has a sure-grip be sure the same OD wheel diameter is provided for the spare tire or if all tires are the same may move one from a front wheel so the rears are the same size and put the odd size spare (if the case) on the front.
Use a PW on the daily rides a few times a year, I don’t on my ’63 other than the wheels & tires only if the PW happens to be out for other chores when washing the ‘63. It’s driven only when nice weather (yeah, rare rainstorm) so nothing needing a power wash. I’ve used mild, non-degreasing type...
