I bought my 72 SE car because it had that old school look that was far from stock. Pulled the engine and was delighted to see the non numbers matching 318 and 727. Now I am in the process of a 440 swap + EFI. Make it a daily driver but have that mean second day look that I grew up envious of...
I have a differential question for everyone. I have a 72 charger with the 8.25 rear end. The car has 2.73 gears in it right now. I have a set 3.55 gears at home I want to put in it. Do I need to replace the carrier to make the swap?
I need some advice on my 72 Charger SE with a 318 LA engine. Here is what the car has at the moment. Stock block and the low flow stock heads. It has an Edelbrock performer intake and a Street Demon 625 4 barrel with dual exhaust from stock manifolds. A 727 transmission and 8 ¼ rear end with...
15 inch wheels, 3.55 gears, at 60mph is roughly 4700 rpm. What would be the max I would want to go in rpm range and still have at least 60 to 65 avalable to me on the high way?
Wow! Awesome responses and very much appreciated being a new classic car owner. Replacing the gears was one of the items I considered. Would a 3.55 gear ratio still allow for decent highway speeds? Seemed to me that RPMS would be pretty high? What would the cruising speed be for me with the...
I need some help talking me into, or out of, headers for my 72 charger with a 318 (mostly stock besides the edlebrock preformer intake and street demon carb). I am looking for better performance, but am not sure what price I will have to pay to install headers and if it is worth the money, and...
I placed the return spring right at the throttle pin that I made for it. That was the same locaton that my carter was mounted. Seems to work pretty good for me. Starting is pretty decent. A lot better than the carter. Hope you get yours sorted out.
No one seems to have an opinion on the street demon carbs. Went ahead and bought the 1901 625 cfm street demon. Super easy install. Even easier adjustment. Secondary air valve is adjustable on the car in under a minute! The car is running super smooth, easy starts (even with the recent 80+...
I am thinking about replacing the old carter AFB 625 carb and am leaning towards the street demon 625. Has anyone had any history or advice on them? I have a basic 318 stock engine with an edelbrock performance intake. The reviews seem to be good on them and they seem to be an easier carb in the...
Ok. This was the fix. I forgot to get a picture of it. I had a fitting laying around that was almost the same size ID as the pin on the seat that the seat back latches to. A little grinding and the fitting slide over the pin (with some inspiration). The latch was still large enough to fit over...
I will give that a try. I was thinking about removing the seat this weekend to look closer at it. I will see what I find and report back on the results.
I have a question on the seat back frame on my 72 charger. If you look at the pictures, the seat back is bent and tips back further than the passenger side. Feels like you are sitting in a recliner. Any tricks to fixing this?
New to the forum and a new b body owner. I just picked up a 72 charger. Little 318 but still fun as ever. I have waited for 40 years to get my first mopar. I have big plans for this car. I am former mechanic but have limited experience with old school cars so I hope to learn a lot here.
