    Street 340 build cam options

Stock... it’s a 727 from a 72, a suregrip 8 3/4 with unknown ratio from unknown car, a junk set of flowtech headers, stock weight, and tire size isn’t set in stone as I haven’t decided on a wheel yet, they will likely end up some sort of 17 or 18” wheel. , it’s currently riding on somE 205/75r14...

    Street 340 build cam options

Hey gents It looks like the cam is wiped in my 340, had a failed lifter also, looking for suggestions on a good street cam to boost power, but not so crazy that I have to mess with valves, springs, rockers etc, Do you guys have any suggestions? It’s a J head 340 out of a 70 Plymouth that appears...

Cylinder 5 exhaust rocker barely moving...

Also the took a strait edge to it. It’s definitely ever so slightly concave not convex or flat. There does appear to be some scoring on the lobe itself also

Haha that was balancing a steer tire. I’m a commercial salesman for Goodyear and sometimes I forget that I’m not a tire tech anymore and decide to smash my thumb with the tire weight hammer....

Damn, it’s basically flat... not convex or concave. Looks like it may just be time for the ole 340 to come out

Cylinder 5 exhaust rocker barely moving...

Haha bumping is definitely ideal but when your balancing filming, holding the light and using a flat head screwdriver to jump the starter from the relay it’s a bit easier said than done lol. I just hope this lifter comes out without being a goomba

Gotcha. Well a video was impossible solo but in watching it. The lifter case did appear to be moving but every time It moved it would squirt oil from the sides

Cylinder 5 exhaust rocker barely moving...

Been a while since I posted. Just got back in the garage and noticed air getting shot out of the carb when cranking. Investigated to find cylinder 5s exhaust rocker is barely moving. My question is what is more likely... a bent rod, a busted lifter or did I wipe the cam love? It’s a j head 340
