Well guys......I have a working trunk light.
I'm stunned....every Aussie Mopar I've owned has had a switch that depresses when you bring the trunk lid down.
Very happy I have a fully functioning "Light Package".
G'day guys,
just curious......how does the trunk light in a 71 Charger actually turn off ?
I found my trunk light disconnected and stuffed inside the trunk lid frame, probably put there when someone was painting and wanted it out of the way, but forgot to put it back. There's a wire it...
I took some pictures tonight of the actual springs themselves.
When I post the pics , you'll see that the actual 71 springs off my original hinges, are in fact tensioned a bit more and thicker.
So......the hinges I hot off eBay are actually used 73-74 hinges, and I've had to use my old springs...
I reckon you've hit the nail on the head. The hood was fine till I installed the Superbee hood insert, then "whoosh", down she came. When I put the original springs on the new hinges it stayed up, and like I said....they're visibly chunkier.
You could be right, but I think I've figured out why the hood doesn't stay up.
I took the springs off the old hinges - definitely look to have thicker springs, more metal. I replaced one of the springs on the car, and voila.......hood stays up.
Side by side though, the original ones on my car...
Hi guys.
I recently bought some eBay hood hinges for my 71 Charger. The ones I wa see placing had broken teeth, but when I received the "new" used ones they didn't have any meshing teeth, but we're actually smooth in their mechanism.
Can anyone tell me whether particular models came out with...
G'day mate, yep I've used Rock Auto quite a few times. I reckon they're great. I'm not sure they had windscreens last time I looked, but I'll check again.
Peter
Thanks for the advice everyone.
Well, I emailed a couple of places but it looks like there's no chance of getting one shipped to me here unless I arrange the transport myself. Some say they'll ship it to a port, but that's it.
Luckily I don't need one right now, but I've been thinking about it...
Yeah, I had a look for places in Australia today......they must just import as required themselves.
I don't need one right away, but have been thinking about it for a while.
Thanks for the help. I tried google searches but couldn't get anything, just repair places.
My screen is ok at the moment, but it's got specks all over it. What terrifies me is the postage.
Thanks,
Peter
G'day guys,
Just wondering if there's any places in the States that might do reproduction windshields for our 3rd Gen cars ?
Obviously I'd need to get one ported, but I cant seem to find anywhere that actually does them to even get a price.
Thanks,
Peter
Don't worry.....my mates and I have always steered clear of those "Holden things".
And the other Aussie Mopar you're talking about is the Valiant Hardtop. Big buggers, they are.
Firstly, thanks for all the welcomes - that's great, much appreciated.
Secondly.....due to the typed onslaught, I present to you some pictures of my car. Struggled to find some decent ones, but these should do. The motor has actually had a lot more detail done to it since this pic, and is being...
G'day guys.
Just signed up (obviously), after finding info etc from threads on this site. Wondered why I hadn't joined earlier, so here I am.
I'm from Sydney, Australia and own a 71 Charger Superbee. Original car in citron yella, with 383 and 727. Motor is currently on my garage floor after...
