Enjoyed this post and liked the analysis and responses. But, for future reference, the housings holding the headlights are not called "pods", they are called buckets --- Headlight Buckets. For info only.
I noticed the hood release cable -- so I suspect you have a 1966 Charger. The 67 didn't have one. Noting that, the hood release cable should not be in the clip above the brake master cylinder. If you're restoring it to look original, I think that's a 1967 windshield washer reservoir.
The wiring harness looks about right. There are small square clips with a stud and an alignment tit. The stud inserts from the top and a nut is screwed on from the bottom. I found this picture showing the top of the square topped stud.
See the black splash shield that runs across the entire lower front? The wiring harness attaches to that black shield. The harness connects to a connector just in front of the battery then through the radiator frame.
Yes -- similar situation with the P4Y Citron Gold interior. Sail panels, door and side panels, kick panels, armrests, etc... all totally different or slightly different colors. I think there were six or seven different colors. I did find a vinyl paint company (SEM) here locally that could color...
The vinyl color of the ACC carpet was way off on mine too. I ended up buying vinyl material from Legendary -- the same vinyl they use to make the seat covers (Citron Gold). We removed the ACC vinyl and sewed in the Legendary vinyl. I got a little **** trying to keep it as original as possible...
I carefully removed the old carpet and saved it as templates to install the new ACC carpet. The ACC carpet is good, but quite a few details or the originals are missing. I've got many photos of the originals. Here are some detail photos for future. Notice how many pieces have been sewn -- The...
This car was very original. I hand painted the original black undercoating and cleaned the original greenish paint. Just posting this as a decent guide for restorations.
If I'm not mistaken, the headliners (and the trunk divider) were flocked vs. paint. That's how they achieved that short fuzzy look. Spray headliner with glue, select the correct color flocking, liberally sprinkle the flocking on the glue, let dry, shake excess flocking off.
As I installed the interior of my 66 Charger, I wrote down step by step instructions. Hope this helps.
Installing the interior? Wondering what the sequence is? Tips? I wrote the sequence down as I put the rear of the interior together. I think it's fairly accurate (from memory). It's long --...
