This happened to me, I took the adjusting screws out and blew the passages with compressed air, put them back in all the way and backed them off 1 1/2 turns, runs/idles fine now.
why are you removing the studs? I find them helpful when installing headers.... You will need a hammer to "adjust" the header tube with power steering, not so much with a 440 as a 383. FYI
