Thanks! The motor is a 400 inspired by an old Carcraft build. 10.5cr 440source stealth heads, pretty mild cam. 727 trans that I built from spare parts from a buddys racing leftovers. The car is a tribute to my dad's highschool car. His stories got me into the hobby at a pretty young age.
Thank you! I didn't think to start a thread during progress. I should have but, I plan on getting a before, during, after photo book together for the site.
After 8½ years, I finally get to drive my dream car! Thank you to all of the members who have provided a vast amount of information that made my project possible. Thanks to the awesome sponsor vendors that help keep the hobby alive.
I added the only pictures we have of Dad's. The pic on the right is the day he bought it from his cousin in 1976. Pic on the left is the day he got it running with a 383 and rebuilt 4 speed.
Thanks! I wrote the whole story when I posted this then I hit the back button and lost it all. Haha! Haven't felt like redoing it yet but, in a nutshell, the stories of my dad's highschool cars got me into this hobby. One of them was a yellow 65 Satellite so, I found one and have been working on...
I have read that too. If that's the only difference, it seems like the 65 would have more room to the firewall than the 66 & up. I wonder about the floor pan height as well.
I might have found a reasonable deal on TTI headers but, there's a catch. I have a 65 Satellite with a B engine. The headers are the #383-178 for 66-74. Are they way off or is it just a matter of dinging a pipe or two? I imagine it could be more of a floor clearance issue too. I've noticed other...
Thanks everybody. Brewers had the motor mounts for a good price. I'm glad to hear Schumacher is still going, as they have lotsa good stuff that I "need"!
I know I may be beating a dead horse on this topic but, I'm putting a big block and later model 727 in my 65 Satellite. I need the engine brackets and conversion trans mount. Not orderable through Mancini and read on here that Schumacher is retired. Where can I find the dang things? Thanks for...
Still searching? I have a complete passenger side front bucket out of a Satellite. Needs recovered but otherwise good shape. I just wouldn't have a clue about shipping the darn thing.
