I have used a single hole gasket.....and every time i gave it a shot of gas it whistled. I chocked it up to air moving between the carb and the manifold. Put the 4 hole gasket on and it dissappeared
I will second the choke comment....if that engine is warm....your choke is all wrong.
For the whistling....start removing hoses 1 by one and capping the input. That will rule out any hoses. Don't forget to do the choke pull off diaphragm hose.
Did you change a base gasket?
Use a stethoscope...
Good Day All,
The stock Chrysler radio in my 69 Charger has an issue. The tuning thumbwheel turns but the tuning needle does not move...consistently. It slips per say. The preset buttons work perfect, sounds good, everything else is fine.
I am assuming there is some type of belt or cord in...
Good Day All,
69 Charger. Original Points set up.
From the build sheet the car only had the Clock. The clock was removed and a Charger Specialties Tach only installed. It has failed.
What is the best place to get either a new Tach only replacement or a new TicTokTach?
Thanks
Macdon221
The plate will fix your issue. No need to weld the slots. That's the purpose of the plate...to limit the advance to the number on the plate. The initial timing may have to be a few degrees off to get the perfect maximum timing. 68-500 covered this above.
The number on the plate is how much mechanical advance you will get with the plate installed. That’s it.
So with your 14 initial….set the plate to 18….you will get 32 total. Check with the timing light though to ensure that’s what you end up with. Both of my cars the fbo plate has been bang on.
Good Day All,
First, I think I read all the threads on tachs first before writing this.
Charger Specialties..."Tach only". Has about 5-7 hours on it of use. Worked fine. Stock 68 440, no electronic ignition, stock coil, stock correct numbered distributor with a pertronix pick up. Worked...
So thought I would do a follow up.
I had 2 original chokes. Dismantled them both. The spring on both of them were the same, or so I thought. One of the springs must have been a replacement spring. The difference was in the angle of the Tang that fits inside the little shaft with the slit in...
Pnora...Sorry I should of been more clear.
Everything is set up....except the actual choke set up in the manifold well.
Choke Set to the index mark...with the proper skinny spacer....on a summer time cold engine...full accelerator pedal....the choke closes....and the fast idle screw is sitting...
Good Day All,
Original Carter Carb. 440. Original Carter Choke. Spring works fine when heated. Carb is set up meticulously as per the FSM for all settings, Carb works awesome all phases of drive, power and idle. No hesitation or bogs.
When warm...the curb idle screw has been set to the...
I have used Points/Condensers/Distributors from HalifaxHops in my 68 and 69 Charger. Both cars have performed flawlessly. Never failed me. Quick check on the Dwell/Timing early in the spring....then maybe mid summer (just because I love dealing with old stuff)...and has never needed...
