Ultimately the Banana will look like this.
Half black vinyl top (I already have the very expensive trim pieces that goes across the roof.) and the very 70's strobe stripe. Adding a go wing spoiler to the rear. Most of the plastic inside has already started breaking down so I'm going to...
After a long back order I finally received my TTI headers. At the last minute I changed my order to the long pipes instead of the shorties. They went in perfectly with no major problems and they sit nicely underneath with a higher clearance. Well worth the extra $$$ I paid for them.
I'm...
Speaking of doing things twice.... Now its my headers. But first, some success.
I received my new motor mounts from Mancini Racing and so far I'm impressed with the construction quality. I think this will be my last set I will have to replace.
I did have to replace the welded nut with a...
Don't you love doing things twice?
I got the Banana back from the transmission shop and my vibration problem is solved! Yea!!!!! She drives and shifts like a dream. Now on to my next problems. I'm going to tackle 5 problems at once since I'll be in the same area.
-Intake manifold oil leak...
Solution Found!
I got schooled on torque converters by Blue Print Engines (BTW great customer service) The original 318 is internally balanced so no weights on the TC where needed. The 360 is externally balanced so it has to have a balanced TC. When I took my transmission in to be rebuilt I...
I received my new transmission mount and installed it right away. Because the mount is new and has rubber where as my old one was like mush I noticed a vibration from the engine. I have the correct harmonic balance with the proper weights installed. I have a call into BluePrint engines but I...
So many good looking B Bodies on this thread. Here's my contribution.
This is my 72 Satellite Seabring. (The Banana) Its going under a full resto-mod. I just installed a new create 408 Stroker engine, rebuilt the 904, painted under the hood and a ton of other work. Just got her on the road...
At idle I'm getting about 11 in Hg. Engine rev to 2000 RPM (Ear tune) I get 17 in Hg on ALL of the large ports including the port on the intake although that one is not as smooth as the rest.
I got some more work done on the Banana and as soon as I fixed one thing, something else would come up. I'm on page 2 of my post drive to do list.
Some are small fixes, others concern me like the water in oil. I'm not sure if I even have any water in the oil or maybe its just the look of...
Took her out for a spin and moving the hoses helped significantly however at lower RPMs there is just not enough vacuum. If I put it in neutral and rev the engine a little bit then the brakes become more responsive. I clearly don't have enough vacuum for the booster with the radical cam. Will...
OK I made the correct connections. Thanks for the input guys! (I was going off the old stock 318 hook ups) Fired it up and seems better now but I really need to take it on the road to really test it but wait!!!!! My temporary spark plug wire routing failed and the wire broke due to it sitting on...
I recently did a major engine & transmission swap on my 72 Satellite along with a whole bunch of other new things. Blue Print 408 Stroker with a 904 transmission. I also rebuilt the brake system with all new rotors, pads, drums, shoes and all new hardware along with new brake lines and master...
The Banana is ALIVE!
I wrangled the headers in place and temporarily hooked them up to the existing exhaust system. After that I filled up the Banana with all the fluids and checked everything but after months of sitting around with only occasional charging the battery was low. It would crank...
I had to remove what was left of the stock speaker from the rear drivers side opening. It was totally trashed due to decay. There was some extra holes on the rear deck for something so that may have been it.
I finally got the starter installed!
The trick was to unbolt the header except for the one bolt on the #1 exhaust port and let it dangle then slip the starter in from the Bellhousing. Still a lot of work especially if I find myself having to do this at some car show 300 miles away from home...
The day I had to travel for work for a week my headers came in. (Go figure)
Before they arrived I went to work on installing the stereo system. For some reason some Chrysler engineer thought it would be funny to make the 2 6x9 speaker cut outs on the rear deck different. One was a 6x9 and the...
I am an audio purest and must have good sounding tunes in my ride. After doing a ton of online homework to see where I can install speakers in the front and found nothing that would work well except for kick panel speakers which didn't really appeal to me also they where too close to the parking...
