    Overcoming Frustration

Sometimes I just have to look at the first picture I have of the car to see how far it's come, or I realize I was the only person at the car meet yesterday that thinks my Charger needs a repaint! LOL

    Check my carb tune please?

I was trying to achieve the bragging rights of "I don't foul my plugs because my idle mixture was too rich".

    Check my carb tune please?

Watching the meter, I could see the ratio go from fat to normal above 2000 rpm. That lead me to focusing on the idle circuit.

    Check my carb tune please?

Yes, I'm thinking if it obstructs that passage it might cause a lean condition but I'll be keeping that in mind. I'll probably get 1/8" brass screws to make sure. I used 3/16".

    Check my carb tune please?

WOW! What a difference a few thousandths makes. Didn't change anything else, but dropped the IFR from .035 to .032 I did have to turn the idle screws out to a full one and a half turns and it idles at 13.5 now. Cruising along around 1300 RPM is 14.5ish and my AFR's didn't change at speed and...

    Check my carb tune please?

Thanks again guys. Yes, I'm definitely not changing main jets, I can watch the AFR go from high 11's to mid 13's when I get on the throttle. I played with air bleeds to see if it made a positive change and went back to what I had when it didn't solve the issue. I had it out a little bit...

    Check my carb tune please?

Thanks for the input guys, it idles at 800 rpm, T-slots are barely exposed so there’s not a lot of throttle opening. I’ll get back in the garage in a couple days and report back.

    Check my carb tune please?

I did get it from Dom, and I have talked with him in the past. He’s great with advice but I like to try and figure it out before I call. I purposely tried to avoid saying “part throttle” to me that could be anywhere. I’m talking barely touching the gas and below 2000 rpm. Just maintaining speed...

    Check my carb tune please?

I have a BLP 850 on a 493" RB stroker. On the highway (50-70 mph/2500-3000rpm) and WOT the AFR's are right where they should be, mid 13's and mid 12's. Idle and light throttle on the other hand are very rich. I can get it to idle at 13 to 13.5 but the idle screws are only 1/2 to 3/4 turns out...

    Ignition causing "carb issue"?

I’ve been lucky with parts until now. The second new power valve I tried did the trick. I’ve never had bad brand new parts before. Thanks for the help guys, I appreciate it.

    Ignition causing "carb issue"?

Tonight I was going to try a new power valve just to rule that out. My blocks have an O-ring for the PV and the one in the primary wasn't sitting in it's groove right so I made sure that went back together correctly and fired it up. Idle was better but still gets fat (low 12's) between 1500-2000...

    Ignition causing "carb issue"?

Thanks for your help. I won’t be able to get back to it until after the weekend. I checked the bung when this started and it’s good. Strange that something I managed to catch when it was happening is tough to figure out. At 11-1CR I’m running NGK 6 heat range, that’s what my build called for.

    Ignition causing "carb issue"?

Never. Carb is only 6 months old and I was taking it easy driving it up until the issue started. When I had the carb apart yesterday I put a little suction on the PV and it opened.

    Ignition causing "carb issue"?

Thanks guys, Dominic suggested putting more idle bleed air in. Just waiting on parts and got to overthinking. I had already lowered the float level slightly, but out of the box it was set up so we’ll it’s not making sense that it’s changed so much at cruise without any other changes. I’ll find...

    Ignition causing "carb issue"?

Put a Thumper Carb on my 493/4 speed Charger in the Spring and it ran like an absolute beast. Idled nice at 13.8 AFR, WOT was 12.3-12.5, cruised at 13.0. Fuel pressure is 6 psi as recommended by Thumper. Driving back to the hotel at Carlisle last month, I noticed the AFR was dropping into the...

Dash cams ..the good ..the bad ..

I’ve been using a front/rear setup I bought on amazon for about two years (in my daily for 100 mile/day commute). The brand name is “Rexing”. For about $150 you can have high resolution that works well facing the sunlight or at night. I only disconnect it in extreme heat when I park outside to...

    MSD ignition control box

Personally, if I wasn't adding compression, a bigger cam, or anything else that might make it need to fire hotter than stock, I'd keep it simple. Electronic ignition is helpful especially if you're not into maintaining points, but to me mild=stock. Keeping it simple means longevity and driving...

    Aluminum vs Stock Radiator

I recently gave up trying to make multiple E fans and related extras work. I put the Hayden HD clutch on a 7 blade stock fan and shroud from '70 on my Cold Case 26" and it doesn't budge off the 180 thermostat with a 493 stroker.

    MSD ignition control box

It's ONE of the ways to go. Some people swear by them, others not so much. I have an older 6AL, the analog version and it's been in the car for 10 years. MSD's wiring is fine, do you mean a 50 year old car's wiring? The MSD pretty much stands alone and doesn't tax the original wiring. If your...

More '70 Charger headlight relay weirdness

You’re thread was a big help. Man I hate staring at wiring waiting for it to make sense.
