What type of flasher are you running? Leds have much lower resistance than incandescent light bulbs. It can do weird things with the flasher because the bulbs dont have enough resistance. In My truck i put in a led flasher because they wouldn't flash at all. Try with standard lights and see what...
I had auxiliary spade on my heater motor fuse holder on my 72. If u look on the back of the fuse box you might get lucky. But definitely use a test light to tell. Heater, radio, turn signals all should be key 12. Only work when the key is on.
inertia switch from any ford would work perfect. On trucks (92-7)there located behind the passenger kick panel. Wiring is pretty easy. And will be available for years to come. Any self service yard should have them for probably next 2 decades as there in every ford build in that era not sure...
