I finally found a 340 type air cleaner with vacuum controlled air flap and single snorkel. I have always liked the look of it and found it a a great price. I restored it and even found someone on eBay that sells a 318 four barrel sticker for my engine. I thought the vacuum canisters were bad...
Hi, hope everyone is having a good day. Not a B -body question but still a Dodge.
I recently removed the v6 3.9 engine in my 2001 dodge ram truck to rebuild it. This was my first vehicle so it has sentimental value. The engine shop called me today and let me know the block has a crack at...
Hi everyone, back to this awesome forum with more questions.
Last week I purchased a set of Pertronix flame thrower 7mm "stock look" ignition wires (#708101), for several reasons. The main one was to clean up the engine bay and be able to work around my Hooker headers. My current OE Autozone...
When the engine is at TDC should the distributor rotor point to #1 cylinder or intake front left bolt? The service manual states the intake bolt but I have seen some online threads state the #1 cylinder.
I am having issues with my wipers. I have a two speed wiper switch that goes from off to low and high settings. The high setting seems to work fine but every now and then will stop on its own. The low setting does not work at all and I has a clicking sound coming from the switch itself. I...
Thanks everyone for your input. I checked to make sure the distributor points at #1 cylinder at TDC, and it does. I followed the hot rod magazine article below.
Tuning Tips
Not using the adjustable dial on the timing gun. I left the dial at zero and turned the distributor to make sure I was...
Not sure why I have never asked myself this. But is my timing cover correct? My car is a 1967 coronet with engine dated 08-01-66, as you can see from the pictures. The timing cover on it now does not have the timing marks built into it. Instead it’s a sheet metal tab that mounts to the bottom...
What distributor is correct for my 1967 coronet? The one with the o-ring in groove or metal gasket. I actually found a distributor I sourced at my local scrap yard last year that has the o-ring. I could clean it and transfer the pertronix kit to this one and use it?
Any suggestions for a newer style electronic type distributor? The one I currently have has been working great, just wan to eliminate that as the source of the oil leak.
You are correct. I converted it to electronic via the Pertronix kit about two years ago. I have used the paper gasket before but I must have purchased and inferior type because it fell apart very soon. Does the newer style distributor with o-ring in groove eliminate this issue?
Last year I dealt with the dreaded rear main seal leak on my coronets 318. After trying four different seals I was able to stop the leak. A couple of weeks ago I noticed a drop of oil at the bottom of the bell housing and panicked! I removed the transmission inspection port and no oil buildup...
Progress report on this. I found my original pivot shafts and was able to remove the inner metal sleeve. Only bad things is, as you can see from the images I went a little too far with the rotary blade. Enough to cut slightly into the shaft. Will this be an issue if I continue using the...
Thanks for the input everyone. I have a pair of rubber/steel bushings I got from PST that came with a kit. At the time I did not use them because I wanted to try the poly bushings. Guess I will go with the original design this time. When pressing the rubber bushing into LCA and pivot shaft...
I recently installed the Borgeson quick steer gearbox on my 67 Coronet. In attempting the alignment I kept having issues with setting toe and the car kept pulling to the right.
This morning I found out my passenger side LCA bushing is badly damaged and the pivot shaft has lots of play. The...
