And how does it seal against combustion heat and pressure. Many ideas have come and gone. Remember the rotary or Wankel? Couldn't get the seals to last let alone meet emission standards.
You should do some testing before just replacing parts. You need to do voltage checks with engine idling and headlights on to make sure you don't have some wiring/connector issues.
An old analog VOM is good for testing rheostats or any variable resistor. Watching needle movement is easier than watching constantly changing numbers.
Don't take this the wrong way. I don't see any voltage checks when it dies at home. I like to use 30ft. test leads (HF) and a back probe kit (HF) with a multi meter and a test light. I would do voltage checks when it runs and recheck when it won't. I connect the test leads to the battery so I...
40 years of working on hydraulic systems we only used thread sealant/dope and only on pipe/ tapered threads. The only time I used teflon tape was on old or cut too deep threads to try and build up. Sometimes it work sometimes not. All manufacturers would void warranty if they found teflon tape...
Stupid question. Your wiring diagram is for an isolated field( 2 field wires) alternator yet your vehicle should have a grounded field( one field wire) alternator. Has it been changed to a late(square back) alternator and electronic VR?
Harbor Freight sells a back probe kit and what I also like is a 30 foot or whatever length retractable test lead. With a volt meter you can check for powers and grounds.
Back in the day I would back probe connectors with circuit on. I had small needles from a tool company but you could use a paperclip or a hypo needle from an ag store. Most connectors inside aren't sealed. You can also do this on the weatherpack or similar connectors with the silicone seals on...
Did it many times back in the day. Usually the power feed from the starter relay and the alternator output. Easy fix for burnt connectors in bulkhead connector.
Wiring between a 225 and 440 probably aren't that much different. You can look up diagrams at mymopar.com. You need to check at ballast resistor with lights off and lights on. If a lot of difference you will have to back track or start at starter relay fusible link and work toward firewall. Good...
Depends on what king of batteries you are going to charge. Flooded lead acid old school batteries most chargers are fine. AGM and lithium ion take different chargers.
