    I second this repair. This is exactly how I repair the threads that protrude into a water jacket. If you really want to get fancy install a Time Sert and sealer and it will be the last thread repair for that hole ever unless you bugger it up again.

    I had a standard set of Diamond Pistons on the shelf and the piston was super snug in the hole. Just as a test I had to hone the block .004" to make the standard piston fit perfectly.

    Well, your 440 block would actually be the third 440 I have either seen or heard about with a bore diameter less than 4.32". I actually have a 06/27/1976 date code 440 that had a standard bore diameter of 4.318 no matter which way I measure it.

    Right now the car has a MegaSquirt injected 388ci Magnum small block, 727 Reverse Pattern w/Transbrake and a 4600 converter along with a narrowed 8¾ 742 case with 4.88 gears and a lightweight Strange spool and 40-spline gun-drilled axles. The car currently has 29.5x13.5x15 M/T ET Drags out back.
