Right, I'll try to cover ad much as I can: Tested fuel gauge straight to negative, it works fine going all the way up. There is a dedicated ground from chassi to fuel sender unit to make sure it has good ground. Sender if giving me the right range, 10 (or so) on full, 75 (well, 77) on...

Ok, I measured and swapped the "looks new" ballast for an old one I had and it seems that the issue is solved. I'll try tomorrow or Saturday with the car dead cold and I'll post the result! thank you all so far.

What are you talking about? I'm comparing the 440 with the 318, bith same age. And like I said the result seems to be better that way but pressing the pedal before any attempt will give me the same or worst result.
