Man opens whiskey saved 17 years—instantly learns hard lesson

I bought this over 30 years ago and never opened it. Been sitting in the back of a closet most of the time. Since I haven't drank in over 10 years, back in the closet it goes.

Knocking in a cam bearing, and it's tight

Thought I remember from the old days chrysler recommending not to remove the bearings as they were burnished to size and alignment after installation at the factory. Similar to the burnishing tool used for the tower bushing for the distributor. Could be why there are these problems today.

    Mopar versus Chrysler Nationals

I like the nats better. I prefer the drag racing over car shows. Looks like they are fixing up the track in Columbus. Looks very nice. I liked when the nats were in Indy too. One thing I miss from years ago was when everyone drove to the nats there were the caravans of MoPars going to and from...

Correct Socket Size for '71 383 road runner Harmonic Balancer "Goldilocks" Bolt?!?

Chrysler probably used a 1-15/64" socket. 1.234" socket on a 1.225" bolt head is about the correct clearance.

Correct Socket Size for '71 383 road runner Harmonic Balancer "Goldilocks" Bolt?!?

Measures 1.225" with calipers. 1 1/4" fits loose but that's what I use too.

    Are 11" brakes desirable?

In the old days when doing a brake job, they would arc the shoes to match the drum. It made a huge difference then just replacing brake shoes. Don't know if anybody does that now a days.

Back in the day that's what the bumpers were for. In the city people would bump the cars in front and behind until their car was in.

    Lights Dim at Idle

Yes, very easy for me to misunderstand as he explained everything at once and it was all new to me. It looked like he replaced half the alternator with another half. Can't remember which half. Didn't take him very long.

    Lights Dim at Idle

Had the same problem. Brought my alternator and regulator to a small rebuilding shop and he tested it. Was less then 30 amps. He took it apart and put a larger rotor in and tested it again. Now has closer to 60 amps and it works perfect. No more dim headlights at idle. Charged me less then a...

My brake lights aren’t bright enough

I would hold off on LEDs until you fix the cause. I had dim brake lights on my '70 plymouth. Turned out to be a weak connection in the turn signal switch. I then cleaned all connections and grounds. Works perfect now.

    TF2 shift kit question

It's been awhile since I installed a shift kit, but I believe the solid plug is for the governor passageway to eliminate all auto operations as in a TF-3 kit or B&M manual-pack kit.

    Rebuilding a breather

Horse hair was used. I used some white breather material from local parts store to replace it. Then I used a very thin layer of silicone along the outer edge of bottom plate before I crimped it back together. Works great and doesn't leak a drop. I think these are disposable parts as I remember...
