OK - Im very curious about this... I had a 62' 330 that had the "rectangular type" centre part of the wheel; and now I have a 62' 440mdl that has the same round centre piece as per this pic! I'm wondering if customers were given a choice at the time of ordering their car (lol - probably not!)...
Found the Culprit... Couldn't see this upon inspection yesterday, but perhaps it opened up a bit more today, and reared it's ugly head... This is a used radial with about 75% tread (just using temporarily, on the front, whilst I await my original style 28inch white walls from USA) - seems in...
I believe so, but can't be 100%... I had my guy at his shop check the shaft for any excessive play etc yesterday,.and it is he who is suggesting I try slightly adjusting the pinion angle to start, but before I go to all that effort I wanted to ask on here in case it might be something else that...
Even though all I removed and refitted was the brackets? I forgot to mention that I had already removed and refitted them a previous time with no issues
Hi all...
My vehicle is an all original, Dodge Dart Sedan 440 spec mdl., original 58000 miles. (I'm in Australia fyi!) I have had engine rebuilt, brakes etc all rebuilt, and rear end got new seals and checked out before I imported the vehicle here)
I've had no vibration etc prior to now...
So...
Hey Ladd... How did you go with your carb issue?
UPDATE on mine... After fitiing a brand new one, from local supplier here in Oz, I have found a similar issue... I haven't started my car for about 10 days now, and mysteriously, my bowl has completely drained... My oil seems to smell of fuel/gas...
Yes I totally understand! Hopefully I can report back ASAP about my original faulty one.
On another note, Summit kindly refunded me for that carb which I was impressed with, especially being that I'm in Australia, and purchased it 6 months ago!
I have given the Carb to a specialist to test because I could not work it out... I had zero external leaks, and PV gasket was wet, and my intake was wet , so it would seem for some reason, I was unable to seal the PV after I had originally disturbed it, hopefully the carb specialist can shed a...
UPDATE!
So, I couldn't figure out why the original Carb (as per the start of this thread) kept leaking past the PV and also I couldn't stop the needle/seat lock down gaskets from getting wet... After many attempts, I decided to leave that Carb alone, and have given it to specialist Carb builder...
Update... So I've had the carb sitting on the bench all afternoon with fuel in the bowl as per the pic below, and it's not leaked a milliliter... I disassembled the Metering block/ Power Valve assembly and reassembled, carefully inspecting everything best I could... wondering if the Carb needs...
My needle and seat is not leaking, flooding the bowl etc at all. My screw/but gaskets were simply getting moist. Finally I applied thread seal to the threads of the needle /seat itself and also the lock screw, I even applied a little grey silicone sealant in the gaps where the adjuster nut...
Fair enough... I've replaced almost everything now... And the gaskets are still slightly getting damp , next im going to try putting a light smear of appropriate thread seal on my new lock down down screw to hopefully prevent gas coming up the threads (where I feel it must be coming from!?)
