I bought my first car, this 74 Road Runner in July of 1980, When I was 15. I graduated in 1982 so I had it Junior and senior year. My mom took this picture the day after I bought it. I did sell it in 1987 for the down payment on my first house.
I had another Road runner by then so I never...
All connecting rods are finish honed to size. Use a magnifying glass to line up the hone marks on the cap and rod. When you get the right cap on the rod it will be obvious.
I just put a couple in the 73 Road Runner. I used Standard products flasher EFL1, worked great. I did have an issue, could not get the bulb to turn in the socket. The white housing was hitting on the plastic around the bulb housing. Had to slightly bevel the edge, I used the die grinder not...
I put a 4bbl on a 65 318 pickup. Here are a couple pictures of the linkage. The throttle spring bracket is from a LA318, just cut a leg off it. The throttle spring came from a can of parts I have, no idea where I got it. It was originally a 4 speed so the trans linkage is a combination from...
1/2 pint over wouldn't bother me. If you want to drain some just pop the speedo housing out, it has an O ring and will seal up when you put it back in. If you need more out then jack up the front.
Yup just a slip ring with slight tension on it. I used to work at a GM dealer rebuilding automatics and in the late 80's they had a lip seal in some of the cars, came with all the overhaul kits. I believe it is for late 80's camaro, don't have a part number right now. I would throw all the...
The Road runner has been sitting in the shed for about 3 years now. Had a trans am in the garage that needed a few things sorted out. I got it out, put the trans am in the shed, put gas in it and it fired up pretty quick. Gave it a quick wash job and went to town. When I got back popped the...
Here is an original one on my 73. It looks like it was painted black when new. I have had it since 1985 and I didn't paint it. Thought I would post some pictures so you knew what to look for. Yes I put the hurst emblem on it in the 80's.
I rebuilt quite a few of the thermoquads but there are a few people that do them professionally, I'll just add 1 trick I have learned. I was rebuilding a head on a GM 2.5 and had to buy fuel line O rings, noticed the small return line. Next thermoquad I did I used that small O ring inside the...
You would get everything in the picture, drum to drum (well except the chain and the tractor). Both brake cables are free, pull easily. Pinion snubber also, brake lines all look good, vent is good. Rubber line is junk though. Whole thing is $1000. If other members think I'm way out of line...
I got the springs off the differential. Both drums came off easy. Still has material on the shoes so inside of drums look good, I did not measure them. All springs and brake parts look good. Right axle seal is wet. It is a 489 case.
I turned it several times and it came out to 3 1/4 turns...
I have one I pulled out of a 73 Road Runner back in the 80's, used it in a 74 for a while then parted that out. I am just outside of Boise ID. I wouldn't have a clue as to what to ask for it, they are not cheap anymore. I am pretty sure it is a suregrip, probably a 3.23.
