Do what you want with the car unless you think 100% stock restoration makes it worth a bunch more. I worked at a dealership in 1976 to 1982 and I was the guy who put on running boards installed stereos, and all kinds of aftermarket stuff on new cars. Heck a couple times I changed the interiors...
I have removed a bunch of broken bolts in my time; the wax and welding tricks are both good methods. But I just about guess the bolt broke because the threads are corroded in the water jacket. When I decide on a method to remove a broken bolt, I never limit myself to one method.
I would...
Jus
t support the car by the frame. The issue that usually plagues me is the bolts in the front of the springs. When you take them loose the steel sleeve in the busing is rusted to the bolt so you can't remove it. I have found easiest way is to take a saws-all with a metal blade and cut the...
I bought one as well, been using it for 3 years only issue is the plastic covering the buttons is starting to crack, but they still work. Use it for carbs and engine small parts. found the Totally Awesome cleaner works very well for a reasonable price. cleans a carb in about 15 minutes. Buy...
well only thing I will say is don't use a flat tappet camshaft, they go flat more than not. The duration and center line of the cam you picked is good for your application, but you can convert to a hydraulic roller and with the same duration get over .500 lift and pick up about 40 ft lbs of...
With the engine running simply give it a shot of carb cleaner, don't kill the engine, the gage should spike rich briefly if working correctly. any exhaust leaks that let in fresh air before the gauge will mess the readings up.
Well I have a cancer story myself. Just turned 69. A year ago they diagnosed me with Rheumatoid Arthritis and while my joints have hurt a little for many years, the arthritis was attacking my lungs and internal organs. Got some medication and started an exercise program and my lungs improved...

And not sure if you could blame it on McDonalds but On May 23, 2024, Spurlock died from complications of cancer at the age of 53
That does seem a little tight. The bolt torque depends on the size of the bolt as well as the grade I don't think those housing studs are harder than grade 5. I have seen misprints on bolt torque in some of the manuals.
My aluminum flywheel had a steel friction surface riveted to it. My normal maintenance was to replace the steel plate every season. Because since it slipped a little the plate would sometimes get hot and start to curl at the edges. If it started shaking a little in the pits, I knew it was...
No new technical info, but I ran a Chrysler 4-speed many years ago. Trans was proshifted by Liberty, I left at 5,000 rpm and shifted at 7,000 rpm used an aluminum flywheel and a three-puck clutch disc. At least back then NEVER use a solid hub clutch disc, hub should be sprung to absorb some of...
If the cam is installed at 107 degrees intake centerline, and with the 228 duration on the exhaust the idle vacuum is normal. Raise the idle with the gauge connected to about 2,000 rpm steady and you should see 18 to 22 inches of vacuum.
Yep, I agree timing is most likely retarded, on my dyno header temps will go up if timing is way slow. I see normal 1200-to-1300-degree exhaust temps on a well-tuned engine about 1 inch from the flange. When they get to about 1600 the tube will start to glow.
OK I keep mouse poison out in my detached garage all year and have not had a problem before, but this year when I pulled off the car cover to get the car ready for a show, a mouse ran across my feet when I started the car and it smelled like urine inside. So I pulled the back seat and it had a...
I agree I have used standard jets in an AVS with no issues. Today's fuel with alcohol in it requires a slightly richer jet and if it sits, can cause corrosion in older Carter carbs. Gas station up the street keeps 91 octane with no alcohol and that is what I use in all my older cars and even...
My son and I for many years have gone to Eli Minnesota to go camping and fishing. You may not like to rough it, but the fishing is excellent and one of the most beautiful and pristine wilderness areas I have been to. Lots of outfitters for canoe and gear.
