    Oil Pump Prime Procedure

Thank you for the detailed response for a pump. Very useful devices. I recently needed to drain the fuel tank from a modified Wills wagon I own and it took me a long time using a common bulb type suction hand pump. I will research the availability of those you show. As for opening the pump...

    Oil Pump Prime Procedure

Good to know these methods. I have a rebuilt 413 that I can pre-lube before starting. Trying to imagine what you used for an electric motor pre-lube tool. Is it something you made or is it available on the market somewhere?

    Oil Pump Prime Procedure

Yes I did. I was warned/advised by others to do that. And good they did. I would have gone the other direction.

    Another Interesting Tidbit

I remember these going off once per month in the Los Angeles County Verdugo Mountains. To test them. On Friday at 1100 hours for 15 minutes. I was miles away and clearly heard the siren ramping up. When I went hiking one day in the mountains I came upon the tower and noticed the 332? Hemi...

    Oil Pump Prime Procedure

Definitely. But since purchasing this car one year ago I've been fighting gremlins to include tires and wheels, a complete brake rebuild, finding shorts in wiring and having to remove the interior to find them, along with various oil and anti freeze leaks. The EL lighting does not work but the...

    Oil Pump Prime Procedure

Wish I would have thought about pulling the filter. Instead I removed the gauge sending unit and tried installing a fitting and clear tube to observe if oil was getting to that area. The sending unit strangely does not show evidence of oil ever being there but it's been a couple weeks since...

    White Nylon Fasteners

Thank you. Those black ones would work well on another Mopar I have with a black engine bay. And get me by until I can get the white straps for my white engine bay, 66 Charger.

    Oil Pump Prime Procedure

Yup. Brand new one. The large O-ring under the cover was pressed flat with no rebound. Same with this one and the other small one inside. I pulled the oil sending unit this afternoon and it looks like oil has not been up that far. But it has been sitting for two weeks. I expected to see...

    White Nylon Fasteners

Some of those are close to what I'm looking for but not the same. Might be that mine are not original. The straps with adjustable holes might work for most spots. Thanks for the link.

    Oil Pump Prime Procedure

I did replace the gasket. Had one hell of a time getting the old one scraped off the pump. Managed to clean the block and used a light coat of Permatex No 2 on the gasket. Was a little concerned when I had to turn the pump to one side to get it to clear the lower frame when inserting it back...

    Oil Pump Prime Procedure

As mentioned before mine is not working and I don't have a gauge to hook into the block. I just figured I would feel the difference when I got pressure and know that the pump has been primed.

    Oil Pump Prime Procedure

Thanks. I figured it would take a bit to refill the filter and build pressure but after a couple minutes I did not notice anything nor a drop in the oil level on the dip stick. Nothing leaking underneath either. When changing the seals/O-rings on the pump I did not do anything with the...

    White Nylon Fasteners

Our MOPARS have numerous wiring and hose fasteners that push into holes to mount various items. I don't know what the term is when searching for replacements. Usually white nylon? material. I've looked at various suppliers trying to find them but don't come up with anything under fasteners or...

    Oil Pump Prime Procedure

I've run the drill/tool CCW for about two minutes and don't feel any resistance. How long does it take to feel that. Checked the oil level and that has not gone down either. Just want to get an idea what to expect.

    Oil Pump Prime Procedure

Good to know. I could not understand why it would but seems one previous post stated that.

    Oil Pump Prime Procedure

Just went out and the screwdriver trick worked. Snagged it with my long nose vice grips. I know it turned a bit getting it out so not sure what that did to the oil pump position. Wife is looking over my shoulder to take her to dinner so back at it tomorrow. Happy wife, happy life.

    Oil Pump Prime Procedure

Late getting back in the game. Have an internet problem on Google Chrome and had to go to safari on my Mac and log back in. I have a picture of the position for the shaft before removing. But I'm not sure I will be able to get down to the oil pump shaft to mark it. I will try the...

    Oil Pump Prime Procedure

Well dang it I'm back again with another question. Tried to pull the shaft out and can get to wiggle up a little but not release. Does the engine have to be turned to move the cam teeth to release it? I have some long nose vise grips on the rim of the shaft and they keep coming off.

    Oil Pump Prime Procedure

Just got the tool delivered. That was fast!!! Less than 24 hours. And it's a straight shaft with the same hex at both ends. I can't go wrong that way.

    Oil Pump Prime Procedure

I think it's how I wrote it. I've taken a picture of how it's indexed to keep the engine timed when all goes back together. Even made a mark on a bracket where the rotor is pointing before removing the distributer. Will pull the gear today (I hope) and Summit says the tool will be delivered...
