ahhh having same issue but with single 4 barrel engine had a bunch of leaks and biggest one from a head being broken where the valve cover bolted to it. any ways while i had eng apart i replaced the heads as well as timing set (was about 1/2 inch of play on both sides of chain. now after all of...

first of all the timing gear had about 1/2 inch of play on bothe sides so i replaced the gears and chain and at the same time replaced every gasket on the engine. as well as new mechanical fuel pump new holley 750 and pertronix ignition to get rid of the points. and after all was put together...

got everything put back together and engine fired right up!! thats the good part so what i need help with is when accelerating there is a hesitation and backfire if given alot of gas. any suggestions??
