Your most welcome for all. Haven't forgotten all of you.
wife is out of town and I am being a party of one taking semi care of my 88 year old dad and her 88 year old dad. gets kinda hectic at times.
you guys are making up for the #$%^ I got when I returned from Vietnam University. I say...
I started being a MOPAR nut in 1966. Since then I have had too many to list. My favorite is the 66-67 Charger. Had 5 at one time, along with 1-66 Coronet. All big blocks, various colors, both auto and manual trans. My first Charger was bought as a interior fire and ended up being my...
Been awhile since I posted and even longer since I worked on a 440, but, I have read nothing about checking to see if the distributor is turning. Pull the cap, have a friend turn the key and see if the rotor is going around. It isn't, pull the distributor and see if the end tab has sheared...
361, 383, and 400 are all the same blocks, just different bore. They are the "low block" of the big ones for MOPAR. 413, 426 Wedge, and 440s are the "high blocks" of the big ones and all have longer strokes. They require different power brake boosters, and some different exhaust manifolds if...
I didn't read anything about exhaust or exhaut manifolds. The factory manifolds have the heatriser in the passenger side. If it froze shut during rebuilding than all the exhaust is being forced under the carb and out the driver side and than back to the passenger side if it is a single exhaust...
The 273 and 318 cubic inch models used a 3 speed manual or the 904 transmission. The 727 transmission was put behind the larger motors which put out more horsepower.
Is this a console car? Bench or Buckets? Is the "crappy" shifter cable or rod mechanism?
I was able to put a B&M Quicksilver in the factory console and used the factory rods and pivots instead of the cable. Worked out nice and the shifter looked good in the 66 Charger console.
I haven't seen mention of the heat riser valve located in the passenger side exhaust manifold. If this sticks, it will normally stick closed, force the exhaust through the crossover passage under the carb and out the driver side exhaust. When this happens the carb gets abnormally hot and will...
I did an internet search for the heater control valve and turned up a site that advertised the part, but I forgot you can not "advertise" a business so the post has been blocked. I do apologize deeply. You can find the valve with the search. Good luck.
YY1 gave you a picture of the hoses to pull. The heater control, or water flow valve, is the one with the blue circle. Disconnect the hoses as stated, pull that unit off the firewall. When these go bad they will leak water inside your car as IF your heater core is bad. While the hoses are...
Not assuming anything, you replaced points and plugs, fuel pump, and now carb.
Did you set timing after setting the points? You said the vacumn line was disconnected so it would not affect the timing while setting it. Did you verify that the mechanical timing advance was working by revving...
For the same reason you stated I put a B&M Quick Silver shifter in an auto console in my 66 Charger. Made a bracket to mount at the correct height, actually used the factory rods and pivots rather than the cable that came with the shifter. It worked out real nice. I could auto shift or put...
