I always use toothpicks on the raised lettering. It works for me.

I used the Testors Fluorescent Orange in the felt tipped paint pen. Excellent results in my old 66 Coronet 500.

Pry back on the control arms and that will push the torsion bars out, providing the strut rods nut is removed. The vise grips on the torsion bars have ruined them.
