I see what you're saying,... I'll keep that in mind when I try it, then I guess it's back to the water pump drill and tap if it doesn't work. My thinking is the pee hole will let enough through but I guess you're saying not quick enough for the sensor? I'm installing a Holley Sniper.
My biggest worry about doing that was finding a thick enough spot to drill into to get enough threads on it. Was it leaking at the o-ring? I also raised the housing nipple up , used the old housing as a base by cutting the neck off. So it's pump, thermostat, o-ringed old housing (minus neck)...
They are pretty close, the Terminator reads 182ish and my Autometer gauge will read 5-7° less.
It's just a theory but I'm thinking the there may be some conduction heat from the block into the pump, where as the coupler is isolated from everything but the water.
Its redundant I know, just...
Thanks Mike, the water pump location is where I put the probe for the digital gauges. Finding a suitable location for both the EFI and digital is a real challenge. Can I ask where you got the coupler for the radiator hose?
I'm assuming you have been working on this since Dec. and hopefully you have been successful. I'm in the middle of installing this same Holley EFI on my 440. What I'd like to ask you is where did you end up putting the temp. probe? I have Digital gauges and the only spot I can see for a mounting...
I've had a set of Coopers on one car or another for the past 35+ years, p/u trucks to muscle cars. Now I drive my 70' Super Bee frequently with Cooper's on it. For me they are the best wearing surest gripping tire I've owned on any car and they look great...
I thank every one for their ideas about this . It was a ignition problem, the electronics in my Mallory distributor burned up probably when programing my Digital gauges, lesson learned, unplug the ignition before messing with digital stuff save a head ache, even if it's just for a couple minutes.
I will look into that, it does seem to me that the carb is starving, It has been a intermittent thing for a while now, hard to start and floods easily though.
It just stops firing, just enough to say I heard it fire. The MSD is new, I just got over another problem of not running and replaced it. A few month's back it wouldn't fire at all and I found a bad ground which has solved the problem until now but this time it does make a "igniting noise" but...
Hey thanks for the response, MSD spark controller, it does fire for about one second then rolls, if I wait for 15 minutes it will do the same thing again . I'll do the plug check
When starting I get on little cough out of my 440 w/ Holley 850 but then nothing just cranks. The carb smells like gas and is wet with mist, I have fuel pressure at the inlet, it does "catch" briefly when cranking but won't fire. It did fire yesterday to back it out of the garage but will not...
