Want to talk about NSS Cars intellectually.

I've been doing it since before it was NSS. The first Nostalgia event I raced at was in 1992, the old SuperCar Showdown/Nostalgia Nationals at Quaker City. We were called the "Field of Dreams", then. My old piece is just that, it's an old piece, and just the way I raced it when I began back...

Roll Call: who's go to the Beaver July 9-10

Chris, they've ground an repaved the track since you've been there, and it is fast! I'm not sure how 90 degrees is going to effect it, but I think not as much as before. See you guys there. Have a safe trip.

Anyone run a low oil pressure idiot light setup

I have one right next to the tach, in front of my face, so that even this blind old man can see it. It does come on initially, and then goes off as soon as the engine get 15lbs PSI.

is the 2011 NSS schedule out yet?

The management at Pittsburgh Raceway Park approached us over the winter regarding getting a NSS program together at their Pittsburgh International Dragway/Keystone Raceway Reunion on September 10. On short notice, we were able to get a good number of cars last year, using 422 rules..(dial to...

    Sloppy Steering

Check the pot metal coupler between the shaft and the steering box. They have innards that wear out, and are easily rebuildable. Flaming River makes a kit to rebuild it, it costs about thirty bucks. This is a common deal with the old Mopars....I would bet it's loose and needs redone.

    HD vs. S/S springs?

The SS springs are indeed 2 inches shorter in the front segment....they shortened them to stop windup. You can use them, but you will need the longer front spring hangers (they are in the MP catalog).

    Tubes or no Tubes?

I guess it's personal preference. I've been doing this for forty years and have always run tubes. They say no tubes might be a couple of hundredths quicker, and that is probably true. But, unless you are a class guy where every hundredth counts, I still like the tubes. For me there is a...

    Poly?

Actually, the Poly head is a good design. It is the same design as the BB Chevrolet, staggered valves. On paper they have good potential. The problem is that you cannot get parts for them.....I don't even think a set of headers is available. Not much interchanges from the LA engine series...

Putting SS springs on my 63.

John, most of those guys are running Caltracs, and SS springs are not legal in Stock Eliminator. The springs must have the original number of leaves, and be of the original length. No one that I know is running the conventional leaf spring set up that you and I are familiar with. Quite a few, if...

    1965 Dodge Coronet 500

I would never buy a car that was promised or sold to someone else. I would always give the first guy the first shot to buy it. But, until someone makes a commitment to buy, it is still for sale, and fair game. But, there are too many guys out there who's eyes are bigger than their ability. If...

Putting SS springs on my 63.

Do yourself a favor and totally rebuild the front end while you are at it....if you haven't already done so. Six cylinder torsion bars are the ticket, and 90/10's are what I have used for years. When you use the SS springs, stick the front segment up into the frame as far as you can. If you...

    1965 Dodge Coronet 500

The 413 was not available in b-bodies in 1965. It was only available in the big cars. If there is a 413 in it, someone installed it at a later date. I race a Hemi 65 that I have owned since 1969. I have also owned several dozen of those cars, and still have a couple that are in various states...
