Check the pot metal coupler between the shaft and the steering box. They have innards that wear out, and are easily rebuildable. Flaming River makes a kit to rebuild it, it costs about thirty bucks. This is a common deal with the old Mopars....I would bet it's loose and needs redone.

The SS springs are indeed 2 inches shorter in the front segment....they shortened them to stop windup. You can use them, but you will need the longer front spring hangers (they are in the MP catalog).

Actually, the Poly head is a good design. It is the same design as the BB Chevrolet, staggered valves. On paper they have good potential. The problem is that you cannot get parts for them.....I don't even think a set of headers is available. Not much interchanges from the LA engine series...
