Need some help pulling an engine

I unbolted the bellhousing from the motor. I didn't think of checking to see if the manifolds were dropping down or not. I'm going to go give that a whirl. Thanks for the advice.

I can't even seem to get it separated from the transmission. It is the three speed manual and it is in neutral.

Need some help pulling an engine

I have a '66 belvedere w/ a 318 poly and a three speed. I have everything disconnected, all the bolts taken off, and I still can't get it to come out. What am I missing? When I had my ford all I had to do was unbolt everything and it came right out. Any help would be appreciated. David

Yeah, I'm going with the poly! I got back at it today and magically have compression on all the cylinders now. I still have to set the valves and check timing. Its still smoking really bad blue smoke. Hopefully once I give it an oil change and set everything it will go away or at least let...

I'm talking with Gary right now actually. I'm still a little on the fence though and trying to some other ideas which is how I found this site. As for the big block, I just don't think that is the path I want to go with this thing. I want to keep it getting semi-decent mileage, just want a...

Thanks for all the kind words. I fell in love with this body style after seeing one somewhere. Before I had a '64 falcon convertible with the 6 cylinder and really got tired of always having problems with the top and finding parts to get the motor going good and the two speed tranny, tiny axle...

Hey y'all, wanted to introduce myself before I started asking too many questions. I purchased a '66 Belvedere II last summer after only ever having fords. It has the original 318poly, a pretty nice interior and only couple of rust spots! I moved out to central Texas about a year ago from...
