Looking for a good Brake Booster setup for my 70 Bee...

I went with the Dr Diff booster, though I suspect that he just buys them through the same manufacturer as Pirate Jack. Dual diaphragm, low gloss black in color. I've installed 2 of them, both cars brake quite well now.

I went through my notebook for the Jigsaw Charger. I actually DID put offset bushings in the control arms.

An interesting idea to keep watch on

I like the theory but those look to only fit drum brake knuckles. Keep in mind those look like they'd really increase the negative camber by a LOT.

I know a guy that might be able to help.

This would work. I scrounged and found some big washers, I cut another 1/4” thick plate and found more bearing nuts. Lay two of those washers on the spindle… Then the plate. It is drilled to allow the spindle to pass through. Not many threads are remaining but there are enough...

If you are one of those guys that can do something that isn’t quite perfect but be okay with it, good for you. I’m not a perfectionist but I do seem to dwell on stuff that I didn’t do just the way I wanted. The adapter. I wanted to invert it so it would rest against the hub. I cut the...

It is a learning experience but has turned out to be simpler than I thought. Dwayne (@68 Sport Satellite) expressed concern about the dangers of steering component failure like he almost had with his car due to improper service he received at a second rate shop. Maybe this was what he meant...

Right side. Not much camber. Maybe 1/4 degree but look at the caster…, 6 3/8 degrees? This seems familiar…. Ginger also had the same sort of thing going on. Lots of caster but not much camber. For the red car, I put those washers in between the knuckle and lower ball joint and...

I hit my picture limit in that last post. Here we go… That looks like just shy of 1 1/4 degrees of negative camber. Now with the gauge right against the hub. Dang. That looks so close, I can’t tell if there is a difference. This reading is on the drivers side of this car: I have the UCA...

Test run with the adapter. I got the grease cap off along with the cotter pin and retainer. I cleaned the rim of the hub. The goal was to get the plate to rest against the hub flange here. Which direction do I install it? With the nut facing out, the plate can sit deeper but…...

Sometimes, the first effort is not the best nor the final version. My first paint gun and welder were both cheap. My first car and wife were not the best stuff either. This adapter may be just like that...Basic and functional but not the best that I can do. Improvements may follow.

Sometimes the “bad mouthing the last guy” is legitimate. I bad mouthed the shop that last aligned my car. They did align it but lied about the numbers, probably because they figured I’d never find out. This adapter… I put the gauge on it with the adapter as you see here and tried to...

I was inspired to make my own adapter so off I went. I found a 1/4” steel plate in the pile then cut and shaped it to be round. I tacked the washer, then the nut. I held them in place with clamps. I only tacked them. THEN I tested it for accuracy. It isn’t. This is the high spot as...

I have looked at the suspension and steering and have been over it numerous times. The UCA cam bolts are tight. The tie rod lock nuts are tight. The idler and pitman arms were undisturbed and still in place. I don’t see any cause for worry. The tie rod ends thread into the sleeves by over an...

Just on the right side. When I first measured the right side after aiming for maximum caster, I got a great number but resulted in too little negative camber. The front cam bolt was out all the way, the rear was in all the way. I was at the limit of adjustment. Adding negative camber through the...

Thanks for the nice words. Your adapter is an excellent idea! I will make something like that for my cars. Thank you for that too.

The drive with caster this high didn't seem to be unusual. The steering wheel returns to center all by itself...when I let go of the wheel in a turn, it spins back to center. It didn't return with such intensity before when it had 3 degrees. Otherwise, It steered and drove fine. NO squeaks from...

Increased caster will certainly result in greater steering effort. A guy at FABO had over 8 degrees of caster in a Duster with a 16 to 1 manual chuck. I don't know if he is a strong man but I'd guess that it was not easy to steer when at slow speeds. The procedure to check caster is simple. To...
