Actually, the MP distributors like mine are scaled down Mallory units. Tiny weights and light springs. The timing fluctuates around a LOT even with a new timing chain. The stock distributors have those heavier weights and springs which are supposed to have a positive effect on stable timing.

They made more than one style of those. Aluminum water pumps have a taller thermostat housing mount and one of the mounting kits places the A/C compressor slightly higher to compensate.
