I'm probably in the minority here, but I prefer stock exhaust manifold. If you follow Nick's Garage on YouTube he'll give you his opinions on staying stock exhaust manifold and I tend to agree.
I learned many years ago that exhaust is one thing left to the shops; both price and quality is generally better at a exhaust shop. Find a Mom and Pop exhaust shop that does just that.....exhaust. They will get you a good system at a great price. My local guy even gives a big discount for CASH.
Yep I've got a 383 and am in the minority of preference of exhaust manifolds over headers. I used felpro flange gaskets with a generous bead of ultra copper.
One of my manifolds is flat and the other was slightly warped. The remflex sealed great. Don't over torque.
Been watching and reading and really didn't want to join the debate, but can't resist. My own experience with two different big block MOPARs was the headers always leaked. Now I will admit that was before I discovered REMFLEX gaskets, but those days of always fighting exhaust leaks turned me...
I do some business with mancini. I have learned that you must call them to get any customer service as they never answer email.
I also unpack and check every order from any vendor the day received. Learned that painful lesson with InLine tube.
Sorry this happened to you.
This month's edition of musclecar review magazine has a tech tip for using molasses to remove rust. I believe they mixed the molasses with boiling water.
I was amazed at how great these remflex gaskets worked! I really like they way they seal. The manifold crushes the gasket oh so slightly and seals easily. What a fantastic product. I started the car after the job was completed and just loved the sound of a leak free exhaust. Thanks for all of...
So, looking for some tips on torque for these remflex gaskets with my stock exhaust manifolds. Remflex states 20 ft lbs which is straightforward, yet I can't get a torque wrench between the shock tower and two of the nuts on the passenger side. I assume you just 'hand tighten until it's tight'...
Fellow Mopar guys came over while I was wrenching yesterday. One of them recommended copper RTV on the collector gaskets. Never used the stuff before. Any opinions?
I chased the stud with lots of Liquid Wrench and a 3/8-24 really old Craftsman die. The threads actually look really good except near the middle of the stud. Maybe one turn that looks a little weak.
Fellow Mopar guys stopped by yesterday and said keep as is as the sleeve nut tightens. Thanks...
