Any reason not to use the 275/60 for the rear tires? I just saw nitto makes a 60 series too. I like the gearing with a 28" tire. 50 series makes sense in the front for a shorter sidewall.
Many years ago we raised a sunken Chris Craft outfitted with counter rotating 413s, we used kerosene in the same procedure as you described to save the internals, but it didn't have head issues to trouble shoot. Both engines ran fine afterward.
More info on when this became an issue would be useful too e.g. it ran fine for 20 years but since I had the carb rebuilt it won't idle in gear.
Was it a gradual deterioration of idle quality until this point or did it happen overnight etc.
