Gen 3 Hemi Swap > Comprehensive Cost and Parts List

Pretty expensive flexplate bolts 4 & 22.97 each? total $91.88 Is that a pack of 4 for 22.97? Good information. I might do this some day with a 2008 6.1L Gen III I bought for a swap, but want to use a modern transmission. My engine came with the NAG1. I think Holley is nor making the...

Just wanted to follow the thread so I see when it updates. just did a quick search, and it looks like holley is developing products for the swap. I might have to look into that closer...

Thanks for the thread. I must have missed it when first posted. This should help motivate me to get back into that project.

BluePrint Engines 392 Hemi Interest? Thoughts? Comments?

There seems to be a larger market for replacement GenIII in the newer cars and trucks, than the older car swap / conversions. The conversion market seems pretty small, but part of that is there is not much support for it either. Really need to get more info out about the swap. Need to look at...

BluePrint Engines 392 Hemi Interest? Thoughts? Comments?

What 70Chall440 said. Having the parts and information to install the engine is key. It's a hassle to research, and shop all the different parts and companies for mounts, oil pans, headers, and such.

BluePrint Engines 392 Hemi Interest? Thoughts? Comments?

I like the idea. Having the parts to easy retro-fit the Gen III into the older cars would be important to the market your after. I bought a DBW pedal and it was not too expensive, but again, fitting it to the stock location of the old car is the hard part. I haven't looked at the DBW throttle...

    5.7 Hemi Valve Seat Issues

I have heard about it, but I don't have one? I read that the press-fit was on the loose side, and the issue occurs if the engine gets overheated? Not sure how much it costs to have the seats replaced?

    440 vs 5.7 vs 6.4

Been down one path with the 440 stroked to 505" with EFI, serpentine belt conversion, 134A A/C conversion, 130+ Amp alternator, electric fans, overdrive transmission and such. Now working with a 6.1L Hemi and NAG trans pull-out that I got for a good price. It has the EFI, serpentine belts, new...

    1970 Satellite getting a 6.1 Hemi

I'm looking forward to see how it goes too. So far I have spent more on storing the car than what I paid for it. I got this "project" about 15-years ago for $700. The 6.1L and Nag1 was another $4,000. The body is pretty straight, but it need an entire trunk floor, extensions and lower quarter...

    1970 Satellite getting a 6.1 Hemi

I'm interested on how this goes for you. I picked up a 2008 6.1L with the NAG1 trans for my '69 Coronet R/T Hardtop. Not to worry the restoration guys, the car was a clapped out, non-numbers matching, bracket race car when I bought it. What are you doing for motor mounts, oil pan, oil...

    5.7 or 6.? in a 73 charger

It is just the 5-speed overdrive automatic that came with the engine. No real benefit over other overdrive transmissions, it was just the stock one from the SRT.

    5.7 or 6.? in a 73 charger

Keep an eye out on E-Bay for 6.1L Hemi. I scored a 50K mile 2008 Magnum SRT8 6.1L Hemi with NAG1 transmission, all engine accessories, exhaust, wiring, and computer for $4,000. The auction showed a buy me price (I think $6,000) with a make an offer, so I offered $4,000 and it was accepted. I...

    My 6.1 hemi swap

Looks nice. I have plans for a 6.1 swap in the future, just not sure about the NAG1 electronics.
