9 out of 10 times I would say go for the 4 barrel. This may be the time I say try it. You can get a 500 with elec choke also if that interests you. Make sure it opens freely and fully on your 2 barrel intake. It should be an improvement over the factory setup. If you still want a 4 barrel later...
I would love to recreate my old charger motor I had in the mid 80's with some modern improvements such as better heads and headers. 70 R/T 4 speed car with 4.10 gears. Rebuilt the engine with the .509 cam. Had headers on it when I bought it.Never touched the trans or the Dana 60 for that matter...
On a stock motor with an iron intake I would run the 650 AVS if it were mine. Stock intake is gonna kill any real power anyway IMO. If you are planning on future upgrades then get the 800 and you don't need another carb later.
