Fair play Bob, you can be a bit of a dick sometimes...
This thread was going nicely about wheels, then you jumped in with both feet and insulted everyone with a 70 Superbee for no reason at all, then got all pissy when you got called out on it.
Someone asks what carb to use and you give a 2...
A "debate" isn't fun when you come onto a thread and disrespectfully comment on another's choice.
Your first 2 posts on this thread were plain rude, and they haven't really improved since.
Maybe it is a cultural difference, benefit of the doubt given, but I've read some of the psycho-babble crap...
This doesn't help the OP so sorry, but on the discussion of torque values, I've never used a torque wrench EVER on lug nuts. Steel wheels or alloy wheels, I've always snugged them down in a cross pattern while the wheel is in the air, holding the tire between my calves, and then tightened them...
I've done some research myself.
Now I have wider tires on my Plymouth I get laid every night. My wife can't resist me.
Before that, when I had factory skinny tires on there it was drier than the Sahara desert...
I've got 245/60's on my 14" Magnums and they look fine, but I don't think you could go much wider. A tire shop might be able to advise. Depends on wheel width obviously, don't know how wide mine are, maybe 6"?
I've got BFG's and very disappointed with the brown letters although certain sizes seem to be affected more than others. My 245 rears have gone brown but the 225 fronts are ok.
I got caught in a rainstorm coming home from the drags one nights. Wet traction was good in a straight line on the...
Can we see some before and after pics please? I'm considering changing to 15" wheels eventually so would be good to see a side by side comparison.
Cheers
My fronts (225's) aren't brilliant white but are ok. My rears (245's) are shithouse. I'm going to try the painting method because I've tried every cleaning method and had poor results.
Have a read here, there are a few options https://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/threads/wheels-made-in-the-usa.1001065/
US Wheel Corp's website is a bit vague - doesn't say made in US. One Google reviewer suggested they don't make their own wheels. Maybe give them.a call and ask them.
Once you get the color you want I would definitely get it mixed into a single stage epoxy and spray it with a gun and compressor. The rattle can stuff is nothing like as durable, you can't get the film thickness due to the solvents needed to transfer the paint.
Hubcentric would make a massive difference.to the strength of the spacer. The multiple spacer scenario was only an example of how the forces would be increasing, but still carried by the original studs. In the hubcentric design the failure point would be further inboard i.e. where the hub attaches.
I don't think it's any different structurally except you get more length of stud. The wheel is still cantilevering off the original studs. As an example, imagine using this method to keep adding width, bolting one spacer to the next, going wider and wider. You can't - it would snap the original...
I asked the question previously and this was the response from LEED Brakes:
The brake pads and rotors can be purchased at any parts store. The brake pads have an FMSI number of D11 which is from a 1964-67 Mustang GT as well as some A Body Mopars from that era. The rotors are also 1965-67 Ford...
There are conversion kits that use the existing drum spindle and fit behind 14" wheels. I have a kit like this on my car - stops great. PST sell the kit, LEED Brakes are the supplier.
Thanks mate. I used Dulux Metalshield All Metal Primer and then Dulux Metalshield top coat. I mixed a small amount of a product called Penetrol in to help the paint flow, and it's also a rust inhibitor. Each wheel probably took 1 hr in total. I was going to buy new wheels (15") but the 14"...
While the wheels were off when I was fixing a leaking axle seal I decided to paint my Magnum 500's by hand. I'd sprayed one a few years back, using the masking templates you can buy, but I spent ages trying to get the masking on and then the lines weren't that clean. This time I painted them by...
