What EXACTLY did you remove/reinstall on the engine? Looking through some of your earlier posts you say the engine was ticking and could have a bad lifter?
It shouldn't just spontaneously crap itself, so the more info on what you did the better.
Yes but you'd think the dyno operator would warm up the engine properly, apply the full throttle carefully, monitor everything etc. The lady owner sounds like she's just getting in and riding that thing hard...and yes I am talking about the 440.
True, does seem very low miles to be getting on it, but there is a school of thought that says "for maximum horsepower after the initial break-in just drive it like you stole it".
Personally I aim for about 1,000 miles before redlining it, but possibly would be ok if the break-in oil has been...
So the test could have been done during or after Edelbrock had started negotiations with Carter on a licencing agreement or similar regarding their carburetors and the dyno test could have been a marketing exercise?
I'm only asking because you said I know "NOTHING" about Edelbrock's history...
Cool.
When was the test performed though? You said the engine was a 1972 350 Chev.
What was the date of the dyno comparison?
Regardless, you keep posting the same single dyno test from whenever performed by whoever (perhaps with an agenda, perhaps not), and instead of usefully contributing...
What size engine was this fabled Carter vs Holley test carried out on?
Maybe the Carter made more power and torque because it was a 625 vs a 600? Perhaps that paper-weight, boat anchor junk Holley 750 that the OP owns would have made another 17hp more than the Carter?
Or maybe it made more power...
I would say you have a tuning issue rather an over-carb situation.
Having really started learning the tuning side of carburetors in the last year or so, I'm appreciating how small differences can have a huge impact e.g added headers and car wouldn't run properly without backfiring. Upped the...
Here's another question: IF Bosch plugs suck (and I have had good experiences with them personally), then WHY?
I don't understand why a manufacturer would purposely make a product that doesn't work well. Spark plug construction can't be that complicated surely? I realise they are trying to make...
Mate, you should be proud of what you've achieved with no experience and crappy working conditions.
The fact that there's not even a splutter when you're cranking makes me think it's something simple, but you've also eliminated nearly everything so I reckon you're close to resolving this.
Make a...
