No Power Steering Assist At Idle

Do you maybe have the same "little assistance" at speed too, but you don't notice because the car is moving and the steering is naturally lighter? What happens if you increase the revs when stationary and move the wheel? Do you get normal assistance?

Torsion bar adjuster arm hitting frame rail

You can see in your photo how much clean fresh thread you've wound into the adjuster to level the car. If you took the torsion bars out when you re-did the front end then you may have installed them without the LCA at full hang so the adjuster started in the wrong place, or the torsion bar has...

Not the first time for this problem, I'm sure!

I'd prefer to fix it properly with the proper parts but if you like a bit of engineering you can put an idler in there (with maybe a longer belt if required) to take the tension and move the belt away from the snout. It could come off the power steering bracket. Would have to custom made but...

What’s your opinion on this lower control arm?

I think it looks good and will darken with grime, dust, oil etc once you start driving it. There's definitely a difference between when they are first painted and assembled to after a few years of driving. Unless it's some trailer queen of course.

Steering wheel 90 degrees off to the the left after centering all steering components

If everything is safe and works fine, why not cut another slot in the steering wheel in a location that allows the wheel to be straight?

PS pump filler neck loose! Weld? Solder? Duct tape??

Duct tape sounds the best option.

1966 Plymouth Belvedere II Disc Brake conversion

Leed Brakes do a kit, sold through site sponsor PST. I have this kit on my 66 Satellite and they definitely work with 14" Magnum 500s. Do a search on this site, plenty of information.

Photos would be a good start, otherwise we're just guessing.

LCA Poly Bushing Failure - what to do now?

Well I finished the other side earlier this week and road tested the car a few times, then took it on a decent 100 mile run to the city yesterday - all is well. Hopefully with the correct grease these poly bushings will last a lot longer. It took me probably 5 hours to do the driver's side...

LCA Poly Bushing Failure - what to do now?

Not sure what I used back then but I don't recall it being white and sticky. I know I have re-greased them with the blue lithium grease , so your theory sounds correct. I'm using the right stuff now, small Prothane tubes were in the packet with the bushings. Driver's side is complete. Just need...

LCA Poly Bushing Failure - what to do now?

Yes, I've got the shafts with the grease fitting. The spare bushings I had came with their own grease which I have spread liberally inside and out, and yes it's very sticky. It's called Prothane Super Grease and is white. I've got the first side back together, just final re-assembly. Home made...

LCA Poly Bushing Failure - what to do now?

Thanks for all the replies and experiences. I'm really at a loss as to what happened - I put the whole front end together myself and am usually very meticulous. I'm also very busy so sometimes am very meticulous on everything apart from the one thing I forget and it causes a major boo-boo. Did I...

LCA Poly Bushing Failure - what to do now?

I know deep down that is the right thing to do - I think I will go that route, I just wanted to take the easier way out. Thanks for setting me straight.

LCA Poly Bushing Failure - what to do now?

I installed PST greasable poly bushings into my Lower Control Arms about 6 years ago. They say "Proforged" on the shaft. I noticed last week the passenger side shoulder of the bush was all split, and checking the driver's side from underneath I could see that one was stuffed too. This morning I...

    Is this a thing ?

It's only required if you've taken off the coupler cover and can't get it back on. It's hard to get the tabs bent over and to get the cover to sit properly. I managed to get mine back on with a bit of tapping and manipulation.

Free play in power brake systems.

Remember too that the actual pad pressing on the disc, or shoe on the drum is only one part of the brake feel. The "feel" is going to influenced by the tires you have (probably a lot more sidewall than your Honda), the suspension (probably a lot softer than your Honda), the weight transfer, the...

Free play in power brake systems.

Probably because Honda have a team of brake experts, trained engineers, thousands of hours of testing, the best technology for analysing the performance, specific design tolerances etc whereas we are mostly backyard mechanics who work different jobs in the day and play around with stuff in the...

Free play in power brake systems.

Mine has an amount of "free play" that I can't get rid of...but the brakes work great, nice and progressive once you're through the dead space and I'm used to it. This is aftermarket disc front/factory drums rear, using a distribution block but not an adjustable proportioning valve. I've had 2...

    Front Suspension Ride Height

Jouncing the vehicle as per the FSM in points 2) and 5) doesn't cut it. You have roll the car back and forth a few times, otherwise you get a false reading.

    Front Suspension Ride Height

See the adjuster bolt hanging down in the photo? Yours won't be out that far but at least you can easily identify it. 1. Jack the car up off the k-frame to take the weight of the wheels. 2. Tighten the adjuster bolt a few turns to raise the front end. Do both sides of car. 3. Put the car back...
