VIN Decode Question (AX). 1968 Coronet

Thank you! That is what I was looking for. will 3.55 take it too far and limit the upside? I haven't ruled out upgrading the cam and would be happy to keep the 318 if I can get more out of it but seem to be running out of ideas. I think the gears and posi will make a huge difference.

VIN Decode Question (AX). 1968 Coronet

Thanks guys.... looks like i've got the dreaded 2.76. I figured this was the case as it's a slug off the line but sails pretty nicely at 90 on the freeway. I want to put a posi rear end in and move to maybe a 3.55 or 3.73, any suggestions? I drive it pretty much every day but would like a...

VIN Decode Question (AX). 1968 Coronet

Hello, I'm trying to decode my VIN to figure out what the gearing is in my 68 Coronet. I used the attached decoder however when it comes to the gearing, my tag simply has "AX" and the decoder doesn't have anything listed. Any idea how to interpret this?

    Electrical Issue: After market AC

    Performance Enhancements for a 318

After doing some further digging, I already have a 4bbl carb and performer intake on the car. It still has the stock exhaust manifold. Makes me wonder if the lack headers is causing the power to be bottled up. I went with Hooker Comp headers and JEGS 2.5 exhaust kit and report back.

    Performance Enhancements for a 318

Appreciate the insights. I don't have the technical competency or equipment to handle it on my own but am meeting with a mechanic in a few weeks and will see how capable he is on the tuning front.

    Performance Enhancements for a 318

seems that everyone I talk to in Southern California wants a small fortune to do an engine replacement. the other issue is that it will take extended period of time for being in the shop and I'm not really into that either.

    Performance Enhancements for a 318

I'm trying to beef up my 318 and looking to start with headers unless anyone has a better idea. I'm not looking to build a race car but would certainly like more power than the stock 318 in my Coronet and am looking for some suggestions. I checked Jegs and they make an exhaust kit for a B...
