    28 and counting…

My wife and I were in the same class in 6th and 8th grades, became a steady couple in 1960, married in 1967 -- two years before our baby joined us: 1969 Dodge Charger 383 HP and 4-speed. We bought it new and still own it, hopefully coming to the end of a 16-month restoration. I think I'll...

Do your cars have a names?

Our '69 Charger never had a name for a long time, but at some point it seemed that every time I stopped for gas someone would ask, "Zat Chahjah f'sale?" We thought "Chahjah" was appropriate, so that is his name and the name on the license plate. Our '66 Austin-Healey 3000 sold new in Raleigh...

Finding the history on your vehicle, what did you do?

My '69 Charger came with no history at all, since I bought it new. It now has 54 years worth, and all of it is documented in detail -- maintenance, accidents, repairs, trips!

    An unusual combo

I am the original owner of an F3 Light Green Metallic '69 Charger (383 HP, 4-speed). Even when the cars were common on the road, I only ever saw one other car the same color and it had a vinyl top (which I don't have). Never saw one with a chrome (?) strip or any other stripe on the side...

Where were you, In the summer of '73? American Graffitti turns 50 years old.

In July of '73, I was sent from Alabama to Denver on a business trip. My wife and 3-year-old son went with me, and we drove our '69 Charger (bought new, and still have it - currently finishing a year in professional restoration). This was the beginning of the '73 gas crisis, with long lines at...

Finding the history on your vehicle, what did you do?

Well, for my '69 Charger, yes, I do. Besides being the only owner (and truly, the only driver) the car has ever had, I've maintained a detailed maintenance and trip log book for it since new. When the time comes, I'll be happy to pass that along to the next owner.

Finding the history on your vehicle, what did you do?

Since you are a member of the old car fraternity, and since most of us are interested in the former history of their car (generally meaning the ownership history), and since resources to allow learning that history are scarce -- why would you object to some later owner wanting to contact you as...
