One thing I did run into is, if you have a lot of backspace on the rear rims, be careful of disk brake calipers. I believe they use the same center for 14 & 15" wheels. I had to tweak my brackets to get clearance for 15x10 rears with 5" backspace.
I was always told 1.5 x the diameter for engagement, 1/2" equals .75 of engagement. Specifically with todays quality of parts.
This will help overcome soft material, smaller thread engagement, ect.
Thread engagement distance calculation thumb rule
In case of the threads for steel – Min. thread...
You might try loosening the axle ubolts and try getting all the extra play out you can to the drivers side. I have found that 5.5 BS works best for 10" rims on 68-70 B bodies.
So when I was at the Goodguys show I asked about wheels at the US wheel booth. I'm wanting 15x10-12 slots with a 5.5-7.5 back space. They don't stock them but they said they could custom make them. Waiting to here back from them to get a price. I love the old school 70's look.
Figure out what size disc brakes you might think you want. I have 15 inch wheels but they have 14" centers if that makes sense. Anyway my 11" discs just barely fit. Just something to keep in mind.
