The round black part of cable housing snaps into firewall. Then you put small 1/4" ball end of cable through small 1/4" hole in gas pedal. You then plug that 1/4" hole with that small black plastic plug so cable can't pop back out of pedal.

After you put cable end through hole in gas pedal slot there is a tiny black plastic plug that plugs hole. Very easy to lose that little plug.

I have a Carter BBD 2 barrel on my 72 318 that acts the same way. I replaced accelerator pump twice with so called ethanol safe pump. Sometimes I get a decent squirt, most times a late dribble and engine stumble. So I am also hoping someone will lead us to a better quality pump.

It looks to me you would need the correct throttle return spring and bracket. You will also need the correct choke thermostat.

I would imagine you could have the original sender restored using the resistance sensor from any other less expensive NOS A body, B body or C body sender.
