    Free 5.9 with rod knock

I purchased a Durango with a rod knock. When I pulled the 5.2 engine out to rebuild, with 130K miles on it, I found all rod bearings were worn down to the copper. I rebuilt a 5.9 out of a Ram 1500 with about 110k miles on it and found all rod bearings were worn down to the copper just showing...

New transmission mount bushing already ruined?

Made in China rubber only lasts about a year. I give parts like that the sniff test. If it smells like walking into Harbor Freight store you know it has garbage China rubber. The rubber deteriorates too fast.

    Anti-pump up lifters..

I didn't think they were too much noisier. Not like it had solid lifters set on loose side.

    Anti-pump up lifters..

I used these lifters for the fact of easier starting with a long duration cam. You get full cam lift at higher RPM.

    1969 Dodge Charger 440 steady 120mph Cruising

I bought a 67 Belvedere convertible with slant 6 auto. The first time I jacked up the rear end, I went to check the gear ratio. I find out it was a I believe 2.41 ratio suregrip to my surprise. 8 3/4" rear end of course.

    1969 Dodge Charger 440 steady 120mph Cruising

I really feel that the aerodynamics of these old cars are unsafe to cruise with traffic, over 100 mph. The cars do lift and get flighty. You would really have to be able to afford the car and afford modifying it.

    best cam for a 340

I have been contemplating going to that Edelbrock Performer RPM combo for a while. The intake seems even taller than the TorquerII. I like hiding everything under stock air cleaner.

    best cam for a 340

I have always liked the Edelbrock TorkerII intake and cam set up in my 340 duster.

ATF cooling: Is the radiator cooler adequate?

Any kind of high stall converter needs an additional trans cooler. I sure ballooned my first 3500 stall converter.

    1966 Dodge Coronet 727 Transmission

A 727 can almost be done blindfolded by any reputable trans shop. I believe the costs come in for warranty purposes. If the shop stands behind their work.

    Transmission kit ripoff

I looked up the pioneer brand super rebuild kit from O'Reilly is $121 my price. It includes filter, bands, bushings and steels also. About what I would expect the price to be. I remember bringing my transmission in to a shop to be rebuilt back in '85. It cost $120 parts and labor. In '87 I...

    440 P/S Head - Oil Leak

You need to make sure there is no coolant or debris at bottom of head bolt holes. If there is debris at bottom of holes, the head bolts will tighten up but wont clamp down the head. Head bolts do not need sealant on their threads. Exhaust bolts need sealant because they go into coolant passage.

    383 thermostat housing

Those peal and stick thermostat gaskets are crap. The adhesive side of gasket separates and leaks. I use the Felpro gasket with a little bit of Permatex sealer.
